Abdominal Pain Relieved By Antacids (Overview)

Abdominal pain relieved by antacids is a symptom in which a person's tummy pains get better after he takes some antacids such as TUMS, Maalox, Mylanta, or Rolaids. This usually means that his stomach acid is making his pains worse, so neutralizing the acid with antacids decreases the pain.

How do you get rid of abdominal pain from adhesions?

How do you get rid of abdominal pain from adhesions?

Need more info...: I am always apprehensive when I hear the words "adhesions" and "pain" in the same sentence. Adhesions are a very common by-product of abdominal and pelvic surery and usually cause no symptoms whatsoever. Furthermore, they can only be seen surgically: not on physical exam, not by x-rays or u/s. I advise you to see your ob/gyne or primary care doctor to help sort out the cause of your pain. ...Read more

My husband has been very ill for 4 days now with non stop vomiting upper abdominal pain and burning stomach hospital said gallbladder is ok on antacid?

See a doctor: I assume you have taken your husband to an emergency room for an evaluation and no emergency problem with the gallbladder was identified. Usually they give you a referral to follow up and see a doctor. Other possibilities are food poisoning, gastritis, stomach ulcer, etc. Please see a doctor, as an er visit may not evaluate all medical possibilities. ...Read more

Epigastric pain: epigastric pain can be caused by many things, most commonly by Gerd or an ulcer, but there are still other possibilities. If it is persistent, you should have the evaluation by your doctor. In the meantime, I would try ranitidine 150 mg twice a day while awaiting an appointment to see your doctor. You will probably need lab tests and maybe a ultrasound to start. Good luck. ...Read more

Endoscopy: See a G.I. Doctor to get an endoscopy. Could be gastritis, an early ulcer or an esophageal stricture. If any of the above, it is likely caused by an infection with a bacteria called helicobacter pylori and can be treated with antibiotics and acid blocking medications. When laying flat in bed at night, the acid from the stomach can come up into the esophagus causing severe chest pain. ...Read more

Call doctor!: NSAID use is harsh enough on your gut. Depending on what antacid med he gave you can affect the pain level. Sometimes those that are calcium based cause a increased acid secretion to neutralize the calcium. He needs to hear about it before you develop an ulcer, or you'll have more on your hands that abdominal pain. You've given meds enough time after 4 days! Call her/him! ...Read more
