Could be: This could accompany streptococcal pharyngitis, but I would place a lot more credibility in a very sore throat with exudates, tender cervical adenopathy, a mild fever, and the absence of other findings that might suggest another kind of infection. What would cause my 4yr old to have abdominal cramping, followed by 5-6 soft stools a day with bright red blood. No other symptoms.
A few possibilities: It could be a viral gastroenteritis (stomach bug) with a rectal fissure which will resolve with clear liquids, a bland diet, rectal lubrication and time.
