Complex left pelvic cyst 5x4.6x4.6cm on scar of previous hysterectomy. Is aspiration via us possible or is surgery better? Abdominal pain and bloating

Complex left pelvic cyst 5x4.6x4.6cm on scar of previous hysterectomy. Is aspiration via us possible or is surgery better? Abdominal pain and bloating

Surgery vs. Observe: Any post-menopausal woman with a complex pelvic cyst has to be careful for ovarian cancer; aspiration would be the last treatment option i'd consider unless you have morbidities that prevent you from having a safe surgery, i.e. Morbid obesity, cardiac failure, etc. I would either f/u w/ imaging in 3 mo's for growth of this cyst (unlikley) or accept surgical excision. Family history? Ca-125? ...Read more

How long for bloating and swelling to away after a hysterectomy?

Typical 3 weeks: It's typical for this to last up to 3 weeks post operatively, however I have seen patients where it can take a little longer. Should I be concerned about ovarian ca if I had a hysterectomy 9 yrs ago have free pelvic fluid cysts on my ovary on us w/ abd pain bloating?

Unlikely, ? family hx: At 31, women's ovaries make female hormones and "cycle" even though there's no uterus (hysterectomy) to show cycling through bleeding. Every woman gets cysts on ovaries at times -- it is how we develop eggs, but our ovaries "go overboard, " make too much fluid by the egg. If it breaks open, releases fluid, blood=pain; gets better on its own. Family history of ovary cancer = see md! Good luck! ...Read more

Had hysterectomy in 07 for endometreosis in uterus & abd. Cavity. Is it possible that some is still there? Problems every month w/ bloating & PMS sym.

Had hysterectomy in 07 for endometreosis in uterus & abd. Cavity. Is it possible that some is still there? Problems every month w/ bloating & PMS sym.

Yes: After a hysterectomy for endometriosis, it is possible that some ovarian tissue remains. Even if both ovaries were technically removed, it only takes a small amount of ovarian tissue to produce hormones. Those hormones can cause significant pain, pms, bloating, etc. On a monthly cycle, and can keep some endometriosis being active. See your gynecologist: medication or further surgery can help. ...Read more

IBS?: Female bemoans chronic "cramping, nauseousness & bloating" after "partial hysterectomy". 4cm complex ovarian cyst. Mri can't ruleout neoplasm. Hysterectomy in apr. Age 37. Horrible pain, bloating, urinary incont. Bowel changes. Surgery?

May have to remove I: Complex ovarian cysts require closer monitoring and consideration of removal if they grow in size. The size is still not big enough to chase it and remove it right now. But an interval re-evaluation in 2-3 months will help to determine if it is increasing in size or not. If it grows over 6 months and the size is bigger than 6-7 cm, I would recommend surgical removal. But also get a ca125 level do. ...Read more
