Abscess / boil near my armpit -- how can I treat it?

Professional drain: Abscesses only have one treatment- drainage. The localized collection of fluid won't get penetrated by antibiotics. Go see a doctor that does minor in-office procedures to get it drained. ...Read more

I had an abscess in my armpit and got it lanced and it's still opened. What do I need to do?

I had an abscess in my armpit and got it lanced and it's still opened. What do I need to do?

Superfast healing: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation (red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day and protected from trauma. Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected. ...Read more

I had an abscess in my armpit 3 weeks ago cut open and drained. Now another one has developed 1 inch from the first one. Why has another developed.

Staph Infection: It is hard to say why but you need to be checked for Diabetese Mellitus and I advice to follow up with your doctor as it may also need incision and drainage. The most common organisms of recurrent Abscesses is Mthicillin Resistance Staph Aureus. Get the report of the culture and treat with appropriate antibiotics ...Read more

Can an abscess on your gums that look black cause your lymph nodes to swell in the neck and armpits?

Can an abscess on your gums that look black cause your lymph nodes to swell in the neck and armpits?

Possibly: Abscesses that cause a lot of swelling in the mouth are the type that can spread to neck lymph nodes. This then becomes a cellulitis and can spread along facial planes to the heart, or even upward to the brain.
Any mouth swelling should be checked by your dentist. ...Read more

I think I have a abscess under my armpit over the last few days it's gotten bigger and hurts. Should I see a doctor or wait to see if a head forms?

I think I have a abscess under my armpit over the last few days it's gotten bigger and hurts. Should I see a doctor or wait to see if a head forms?

See your doctor: If it hurts that much and is getting bigger, you may benefit from your doctor doing an incision and drainage on the abscess. The sooner it drains or gets drained, the less likely a worsened local infection will occur. So if it not only hurts and is getting bigger, but is red or surrounded by red, is warm to touch, and feels either firm or soft with the beginnings of a head go see your doc! ...Read more

Had an abscess drained from my armpit on 7/20. I still have a hard lump and painful. Could it still be an abscess there or cyst?

Had an abscess drained from my armpit on 7/20. I still have a hard lump and painful. Could it still be an abscess there or cyst?

Residual disease: Well that should be re-examined by the doctor who cut into it. If it was a surgeon, I expect they will do a proper job in re-exploring the area and taking the necessary action. It's possible the abscess arose from an infected cyst, or there could be some undrained portion that wasn't reached in the first procedure. Hopefully you can go back ASAP to get that looked at. ...Read more

I have 5days left Armpit beansize abscess, then today started appearing under right armpit started today to take cefadroxil monohydrate 1g.any advice?

Armpit boils: Sometimes a doctor can help things along by making a small incision in these abscesses. This helps in the treatment by getting the pus out, AND it is helpful in order to figure out 'what' bacteria are causing the problem - I suspect 'Staph' since they commonly cause localized skin abscesses. Then, once you have a culture, the best choice of an antibiotic can be made. Hope this helps. ...Read more

Had an abscess drained on 7/20/17 in my armpit. I need to shower. What can I use to wash my arm pit? Just soap or will that sting?

Mild soap is fine: Probably won't even sting. But if it does, just rinse well with warm water and it will do almost as much good. Apply a warm compress afterwards if there is any swelling or drainage continuing. ...Read more

I have a big abscess under my (arm) armpit. Painful and my arm is swallowing. Dermatologist suggested to take antibiotic, remove it under gn anestesia?

Abscess: An abscess can be incised and drained with a local anesthetic. Best start on the antibiotic or two different antibiotics to cover MRSA Staph and non-MRSA. Add heat compresses, then have the I & D the next day. It will need to be packed with gauze daily to keep it from closing back up. General anesthesia adds a separate risk factor that should not be necessary. I hope this helps. ...Read more

Ciprofoxin: The proximity of the "new" symptoms to the start of the cipro, is highly suspicious for an allergic reaction to the antibiotic: http://www. Drugs. Com/sfx/ciprofloxacin-side-effects. Html. I would contact your doctor immediately and discuss these sx with him. As for the "lump in the throat, " although it could represent an abscess, it might be bronchitis. Either way, contact your md immediately. ...Read more

Low vitamin d, CIN 1, lump in armpit, fatigue, weight loss, Breast pain and recently had an abscess removed from Breast near nipple, cause?

See MD: You should see the same MD who removed the abscess and if the lump in your armpit is on the same side as the abscess, this would make sense, because the lymphatics drain that area toward the armpit on the same side. You should see the doctor and may need antibiotics. ...Read more

Draining helps....: An abscess is an infection, something like a large pimple. Getting it to drain may help resolve the abscess.
