Varies: It varies somewhat based on the severity of the injury. If it is a fracture, you would be well suited to avoid exercises that put extra strain on that area such as seated military press, etc for 6-8 weeks. If it was more of a soft tissue injury, than basically you would just try to keep your activities to such a level that your pain is not aggravated, but could increase them as tolerated. ...Read more

Will wearing compression garments help in post hernia repair(on jan 2014), hard ball like seroma in abdomen and strengthen surgery areas?
No help now: There are some repairs in the literature that have shown a benefit in preventing seromas by using a compression garment, but once one forms, it will most likely not help make it go away faster. I less it is causing problems, such as pain, or enlarging significantly, i tell my patients to proceed about their usual activities as it should resolve within 6 months. No need for ct scans or ultrasounds. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Sex and Bleeding: There are some strict barriers to sex and doctors. We cannot tell you how, or when, or with whom to have sex. But, there are some great guidebooks such as "the joy of lesbian sex" or this website: 'http://www.Ourbodiesourselves.Org. You may need more lubrication, more foreplay to soften the vaginal vault. But, if you are bleeding you probably should be a bit more careful. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes, usually: Known as a papoose board, this device is padded and gently holds an infant still while the delicate procedure is performed. While some might consider this device offensive, i would argue its use to be beneficial and more humane than risking allowing a child to squirm and wiggle at just the wrong moment. Babies are "carefully secured" rather than " strapped down.". ...Read more

Exercise Tachycardia: I question the accuracy of a HR monitor that registers a maximum HR in the 220bpm range for a human subject!Infants do not achieve this heart rate with high fevers or distress. 220 bpm is the heart rate of a hummingbird or small mammal. That being said, there is no benefit to exercise so intense it triggers a HR above 150bpm in most adults and signs of physiological distress slow most people down! ...Read more
I have a severe pain in my back on the left side right where my bra strap is. I've had it more than 2 weeks and have tried ice heat ibuprofenbut no hel?
Not associated: A bra strap does not prevent, help or make shoulder motion more difficult. The repetitive motion of the shoulder along with some collarbone spurs that protrude down into the bursa region can cause inflammation of the bursa and the pain associated with it. Inflammation of the rotator cuff tendon can also cause an irritation of the overlying bursa leading to bursitis as well. ...Read more
