I recently took an A1c test and blood glucose. The results from the A1c is 7% and fasting glucose 84. Would i be considered a diabetic?

I know my a1c and I check blood glucose fasting and post Prandial daily. I eat very low carb and workout daily. Why do I need a dx???
Dx: If your A1c and fasting blood glucose are all within range there seems to be no need to check your blood glucose more than once a week. If the 'once a week" gives you bad results, go back to treatment. If not - check your blood sugar once a week. If that is OK - relax and enjoy. If not, please see your primary doctor. ...Read more
Blood glucose: The a1c is an average of all your blood sugars over about 2 months. How often do you test your glu? You can't measure your glu 24/7. An a1c of 7.0 is actually fairly good. My blood glucose hardly goes below 100. Often it's as high as 125 after 5 hr. Meals. Is it a sign of serious problems in the future. My A1c is 6.5.?

I have used glucerna for couple days and my blood glucose has improved tremendously (healthy low range). Should I continue using it to improve my A1C?
Yes : given that you have DM and are now decreasing your intake is the reason for better BS control. If it takes glucerna for you to control your diet then please continue. Your A1c as you may know reflects 3 months control and so please have it checked at that time frame and not sooner. Diet is key in glycemic control. Best of luck ...Read more
