FBS: I presume you have type 1 diabetes given your age. My apologies if your doctor has said you have type 2 diabetes and he is correct. Very unlikely unless you are substantially overweight. You should check your blood sugar almost all day if you have type 1 diabetes. There is excellent safe equipment for continuous blood sugar control. About 140: Any blood sugar at any time over 200 (two episodes) is diagnosed as Diabetes. Normal level for fasting is under 100. There is no standard, per se, for 45 minutes after an "average meal," but I would not like to see the number higher than the normals for a glucose tolerance test for sure.
