Have had flat stools for about 2 yrs. No blood. About every 2 weeks I'll have some loose stools. No weight loss. Appetite is fine. I'm scared?

Stool change: If you have not had a colonoscopy at your age you should see a GI doctor to schedule one. Any changes in the stool form may be diet related and you might want to try first some increased fiber in your diet (like veggies, fruits and if that does not work you can try things like Metamucil or Citrucil). Good luck! ...Read more

Loose stools, weight loss over a stone but eating twice as much as I used to, dew to not smoking anymore?

2 negative FOBTs, no anemia, no weight loss, no family history. Right abdo discomfort, + urination and reduced mainly loose stools for month. Colon ca?

Uncertain: Hi. Negative stool guaiac tests do NOT exclude colon cancer! Your risk of that is low, based on what you've told us (age, no family history, guaiac negative), but not zero. The increased urination would not be related to any clone CA issue. Are you overweight? Check for diabetes. Right abdominal pain could be gallstones, liver capsule, etc. What worms is the mebendazole for? Any that go to liver? ...Read more

Is more frequent loose stools symptom of smallcelllung cancer. Also fatigue and muscle loss&possibly malabsorption. Symptoms for 18 months?

Not lung cancer: What you described does not comport with lung cancer. Did you lose weight? If yes, malabsorption is likely. For a more definitive opinion an in-person evaluation is needed and you should consult a doctor.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Having to poop after meals and upset stomach. Lots of loose stools plus loss of appetite. Could it be stress? I have been under a lot of stress lately

GI disturbance: There are numerous possibilities here and an evaluation would have to be rather extensive. See a gastroenterologist if necessary. Yes, "stress" may create physical manifestations with the GI tract as a target (called somatization), but before making that assumption you should be sure it is nothing more serious. You might try eating unpasteurized yogurt 2 or 3 times a day. Sometimes helps. Best. ...Read more

Can umbilical hernia cause nausea, fatigue, loss of appetite, weightloss, strained bowel movemnt (even with loose stools)? Surgeon app. End of month.

Probably not all: Probably not all of those symptoms are related to an umbilical hernia. Most umbilical hernias are small and do not cause that much discomfort, naseua, fatigue, weight loss, etc. If it is really large, it can start having some of those symptoms. But in general, I doubt the unbilical hernia is causing all those symptoms. Good luck at the appt. ...Read more

Is frequent diarreah and loose stools a sign of worms? Is it true that everbody in the world has worms. Help.

Many possibilities: Diarrhea has many causes. Infectious causes include bacteria, parasites and viruses. Antibiotics for an unrelated infection can cause clostridium difficile infection which needs treatment with Metronidazole or oral vancomycin. Not all diarrhea is due to an infection. Other causes include lactose intolerance, sorbitol, crohns, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease. See md. ...Read more

I had unprotected insertive oral with sex worker 2weeks ago. I'm having loose stools for 10days plus. Is that a sign of HIV?

No risk, no worries: First, this was a zero risk event. HIV is rarely if ever transmitted mouth to penis (or by any other exposure to an infected person's mouth or saliva). There has never been a proved case. Second, loose stool alone is not a likely symptom of a new HIV infection. It probably has nothing to do with the oral sex event. No worries, no need for testing unless you want to do it anyway for reassurance. ...Read more

Are very foul smelling loose stools in infants without fever, mucus or blood a sign of Amoebic dysentery?

Are very foul smelling loose stools in infants without fever, mucus or blood a sign of Amoebic dysentery?

Amoeba Shmomoeba...: Think about it this way: Whatever is causing the diarrhea, an infant is very sensitive to fluid loss, and other losses too. So if it has been excessive and persistent and the baby won't take enough fluids by mouth to compensate for the losses (dry mouth, decreased tears and urine volume, acting cranky and tired), it's time to see a doctor. Let him figure out the cause, whether amoeba or just a virus ...Read more
