Any : Any surgical excision of a mole or any other facial lesion will always leave a scar. Bigger lesions will leave bigger scars. Scars may be favorable or unfavorable. Favorable scars have more natural color, are flat and blend in with the lines of the face. Unfavorable scars may be raised, irregular, or run against the natural lines of one's face. Freckles or moles: Freckles are clusters of flat, circular, brown (concentrated melanin) which are most often visible on people with a fair complexion. A freckle is also called an "ephelis". This is different than moles or Lentigines which are raised and have increase in melanocytes. You need to have a correct diagnosis and then discuss tx options. see answer: Assuming you have a small skin lesion, the procedure would most likely involve a local numbing procedure and excisional removal/biopsy of the site. Cauterization may be used to treat post procedure, or a suture closure depending on the area and surgeon.
