I strained my lower back while doing squats as a part of my workout yesterday. I continue to have shooting pain in my lower back like a spasm.

Most commonly, it is a weak core, poor form, or overtraining. One way to deal with it is to back of the volume & intensity of your running while adding in more core. Or do a bit less and: It is possible that you are over-stretching it or that you are not doing it correctly. I would stretch a bit less and/or speak to the yoga instructor for some guidance.
