The cough reflex is a protective mechanism that uses muscles in your throat and chest to expel mucous and saliva that may contain pathogens that would otherwise possibly be inhaled via aerosol or to expel pathogens infecting the throat and respiratory system. Cough benefits the host by reducing load and benefits the pathogen which may then spread via aerosol. ...Read more
I have sinus drainage, a deep tickle in my chest with coughing sometimes, and a weird flutter like sensation in upper chest or throat that causes me to cough. Is this bronchitis or something else?
Viral: Most likely this is a viral upper respiratory tract infection with some irritation of the throat and windpipe(trachea). This causes a unproductive cough that can be annoying. If your symptoms are otherwise very mild with no build up of mucus in the bronchial tubes, it's ok to take a cough suppressant syrup containing dextromethorphan. Your symptoms should resolve in a few days. If they don't,see M ...Read more

There are a number of reasons you might be feeling a fluttering sensation in your chest. It is possible that with exercise your normal heart beat becomes stronger and you are then able to feel it even though it is a normal heart rhythm.
It is also possible that you have an arrhythmia, or irregular heart beat. There are many types of arrhythmias and the only way to know for certain is to have an ECG taken when you are feeling the fluttering. Sometimes this is best done by wearing a holter monitor, or an ECG that you wear continuously for a day or longer. The heart rhythm is then analyzed and your doctor could then determine what type of heart rhythm changes you might have.
The most common types of arrhythmias are single skipped beats and are called premature atrial contractions (pacs) or premature ventricular contractions (pvcs). These are benign and are not dangerous or worrisome. If your heart seems to race continuously for seconds to minutes or longer, you might have a more serious arrhythmia that may or may not require further treatment.
If at any time you feel the fluttering and you feel like you might faint, or you cannot breathe well, or you have chest pains, you should call your doctor immediately. ...Read more
Havng a fluttering sensation in upper chest 1 or 2 tyms a day.No pain or diziness Just makes little worry. Hve been observing this since 1 month.
Fluttering: I would not worry. If it only lasts a few seconds and is not associated with pain, pressure in your chest, difficulty breathing, sweating, nausea or vomiting it could simply be some abnormal beats which happens. Mention it to your GP and they will check an ECG. http://www.webmd.com/heart-disease/guide/what-causes-heart-palpitations#1 ...Read more

It sounds as if you were experiencing heart palpitations, which some have described as "skipping a beat", "fluttering", or "beating too hard or too fast". They can occur during activity or even when sitting still or lying down. Palpitations are very common. They usually aren't serious or harmful, but they can be bothersome. In some patients, certain events trigger these palpitations, such as strong emotions, vigorous physical activity, medicines, stimulants (such as coffee). Some palpitations are symptoms of arrhythmias. Arrhythmias are problems with the rate or rhythm of the heartbeat. Some arrhythmias are signs of heart conditions, such as heart attack, heart failure, heart valve disease, or heart muscle disease. However, less than half of the people who have palpitations have arrhythmias.
If you can ascribe these incidents with some factor, avoid those factors, such as caffeinated coffee or soft drinks. If they are associated with pain or shortness of breath, please see your doctor immediately. If they become more prolonged or frequent (daily occurrence), then wearing a heart monitor (sometimes called a holter monitor), which captures all heart beats in a period of time, can be used to study the nature of the palpitations. ...Read more
When lying on stomach and deep inhale I feel a flutter in my chest. No other symptoms and it's the only time I really notice this sensation. ?
Generally, a sensation of fluttering in the chest, only when lying on your stomach and taking a deep breath, is unlikely to be caused by a significant heart problem unless you are having the same symptoms at other times of the day or with exercise. Normal people can have brief episodes of arrhythmia, called SVT, in which the heart can suddenly speed up and beat very quickly>
