My second molar feels loose and sore 6 days after my wisdom teeth surgery. Is this normal? And why?
Can be normal: You are probably missing the distal wall of bone on that second molar following the extraction. In addition, the act of extracting the wisdom tooth may have loosened up the second molar during the procedure. Everything should tighten up as the bone fills in and as the stress on the second molar subsides. Speak to your surgeon if after a couple of weeks you don't feel better. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Gum pain: See your dentist.Get a more detailed answer ›
Quite Common: Sockets from wisdom teeth extractions heal from the inside out so it is quite common for there to be a 'hole' one week post extraction. Often times the lower wisdom teeth sockets have to be washed out to remove any debris about a week after the extraction. If the area is hurting or swollen i would recommend contacting your dentist and ask if a post-op check is indicated. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers
Normal healing or no: After an extraction we can have a hole some period of time due to the healing of that area. This healing normally takes around 3-4 months. If the hole is same colour and shade than the gum, it is good sign, just need to have more care cleaning that area, however if the hole is deep, different colour, you could have a chronic infection. It will always be resorbed with a follow up appointment. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

8 days after wisdomteeth extraction, cleaned sockets with syringe& booger-looking thing came out of the right side-I can see a black hole now-what do?
NoToothFairyForYou..: Great place to stash your diamonds...It was probably a blood clot. Now what's left is the tooth socket cavity. That clot protected the bone at the bottom so now it's susceptible to drying (even with saliva around) so if it starts to hurt call your dentist pronto. He'll know what to do. Be careful chewing on that side and avoid seeds and fine grain or extremes in temperature. Rinse frequently. ...Read more

5 DAYS: Typically, most dry sockets develop in the first 5 days or so. So you are still at a reasonable risk. When gum tissues start to cover the area, thus trapping the clotted blood underneath, you are at a better chance of uneventful recovery and healing. Make sure to follow the surgeon's/dentist's post-op instructions, and if something is not feeling normal, contact the office. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
