A Brace Or Support To A Broken Bone
Cti brace: This brace might be helpful just for support if you have a broken bone but it is usually used for people who have a torn acl ligament.
A fracture is a broken bone. As there is cartilage at the end of many bones at the joint, a fracture may also include a break in the cartilage. Fractures and broken bones are the same thing. It seems that many believe that a "fracture" is a lesser injury or an incomplete break in the bone, but this is not correct. Fractures may be displaced or ...Read more
I have a broken bone in my neck, I am wearing a neck brace, is it ok if I lay on my back or is it better if I sleep sitting up the bone is broken on the second verterbrae, is it better if I sleep sitting up or laying down
Neck fracture: I assume you are not having neurologic symptoms and your physician is not concerned about potential neurologic deficits. If the fracture is not of this concern and possibly involves more peripheral structures like a spinous or transverse process, it primarily will depend upon what is most comfortable for you. Either seated or supine would be reasonable.See 1 more doctor answer
Can bone growth stimulator plus brace heal a pars fracture after going 7 months misdiagnosed. Was unilateral until 2 weeks ago.
Yes: I would recommend the brace and a magnetic stimulator for three months.
Broken humerus bone. I'm now in a Sarmiento brace. I feel a warm feeling where the fracture occurred. Is it something serious?
Warmth: Warmth is probably good sign. Fractures heal by making a clot first and this means increased blood flow. YOU should not get fever though. Let ortho know that.
Untreated wrist fracture I broke my wrist in 3 places (all expose, seperated, not thru skin) at my apartment and unemployed. Not having insurenance, ER only put it in a brace. The worst brake is the large bone split lenghtwise. Its been 2&1/2 months with ver
Your: Your question is a good one but absolutely impossible to answer in any meaningful way without knowing many more details of the injury, having a good exam, and seeing the x-ray at the very least. Assuming that this is a so-called articular fracture, that is in to the joint, one would have to know what the joint surfaces look like, how displaced the bone fragments are etc... While at 2 and 1/2 months you are already beyond the normal healing period for this type of fracture, you should still not delay in seeking a medical evaluation. At the very least you will be started on appropriate therapy. Even without insurance, see if there is not a local hospital clinic that can help out. Best of luck.See 1 more doctor answer
I met with an accident & broke my collar bone (clavicle right) my doctor advised me to wear a figure of 8 brace for 6weeks and the fracture will heal.
Most do heal well-: -with that treatment, but I always took into account the occupation & needs of the patient & many times would open & fix them so they were more able 2function. I used an intra medullary pin so there was no brace. But activities were limited 2 work or school. Had 2B careful as the pin could break. It was always able 2 B removed, but I had 2 pick the patients carefully.See 1 more doctor answer

I have a broken bone in my wrist for 2 years, I didn't feel much pain so I didn't know it was broken until few months ago I checked. Does it ever heal?
Pain and X-Ray.: Under normal circumstances, one would expect to have some pain, swelling, bruising or any combination of these symptoms. There are conditions that the pain may not be noticed. The only sure way to remove all doubt is to have the area x-rayed.
Pain, swelling.: If something hurts, is swollen, is bruised, or doesn't seem to be aligned the way you remember it, see your doctor for an x-ray. X-rays are the best way to tell definitively if a bone is broken.See 1 more doctor answer
Immobilize: Keep it immobilized and allow the bones to regrow at the edges and find each other. If there is nonunion, speak to your ortho and ask as there may be a cause and something may need to be done.
Is it broken or fractured is a question I am often asked. The answer is basically that a broken or fractured bone is the same thing. A fracture means a break in the cortex or the strong layer of outer bone cells. In an adult the average time for that to heal varies greatly but is often considered to ...Read more
