Would a chest xray show lymphoma?

It depends...: It depends on the area covered by the x-ray and on how enlarged the lymph nodes are. A chest x-ray would probably show significant lymph node enlargement that may be suspicious for lymphoma in the mediastinal area (inside the chest cavity) and possibly in the supraclavicular (above the collarbone), lower cervical (neck), and axillary (armpit) regions. Inguinal (groin) lymph nodes would not show. ...Read more

Do x rays show herniated disk

Do x rays show herniated disk

No: X-ray will reveal the space between the vertebral bodies where the disc is found but unless the disc is calcified, it will not be visualized as x-ray energy will pass through this soft tissue structure while it does not penetrate the bone but you can get idea of how degenerative the disc may be by seeing how narrowed the disc space is or amount of bone spurs seen around it. Ct & MRI reveal disc. ...Read more

In addition, lung infection can be subtle, with presentation as a small focus of infection or a rather very faint infection area that can be very difficult to detect with xray alone. My chest xray findings: clear lungs. Apical pleural thickening. Is it serious?

Probably not.......: This is most likely the result of previous infection. Typically this thickening will look the same on the right and left with only some minor difference in thickness. If this is the case it is most likely nothing to worry about and just a follow-up chest xray to give you peace of mind. If there is a marked asymmetry or associated bone destruction this would need further evaluation. ...Read more
