Which Is Better For Anxiety And Panic Attacks Zoloft Or Lexapro
Both: Citalopram & mirtazepine target symptoms of anxiety including panic attacks. The results of an open label study in panic disorder (2001) suggest that Mirtazapine seems to be a fast & effective treatment alternative for ssris in panic disorder. A placebo-controlled study (1997) demonstrated efficacy of citalopram in reducing panic attacks. Both meds have been associated with panic attacks during tx. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Which is a better anti depressant drug to treat panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Lexapro (escitalopram) or zoloft?
Both Potentially: Lexapro (escitalopram) and zoloft are similar medications and have both been shown to be helpful for panic, anxiety, and depression. There is probably a decreased percentage of side effects with lexapro (escitalopram), (escitalopram) so it might be preferable for that reason. However, plenty of people do well with either medicine, and I have had some patients do well with zoloft after not getting benefit with lexapro (escitalopram). ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Possibly: Citalopram and Buspirone are both described as being effective for anxiety. The magnitude of the difference between their effects is likely small if studied formally in a research setting although my experience with both is that i would predict someone would experience more comprehensive reduction in the severity of their anxiety and panic attacks in the context of citalopram treatment. ...Read more
Xanax (alprazolam) or celexa (citalopram) which is better for panic attacks and which has worse side effects or more addicting? Thank you!
It depends: Celexa is better for long-term treatment/prevention of recurring attacks, and actually works well (as do other ssris, like paxil, (paroxetine) prozac, etc.). Xanax, on the other hand, is better for acute attacks, to be taken when you're actually having an attack. It's better not to take it all the time if possible, as it is a controlled substance, and, thus, more addicting. ...Read more
Different meds: Seroquel (quetiapine) is an antipsychotic med used for severe psychiatric disorders. It is not indicated for panic attacks in otherwise well-functioning people. Clonazepam has several uses including treating panic disorder. Be sure you discuss with prescribing doctor. I hope this helps. Best wishes. ...Read more
Clonazepam: Not for daily use. Absolutely not. This is setting you up for a lifetime of being medicated. Neither of these drugs are curing a problem. The underlying problem needs to be solved. ...Read more
Not immediate: Though i often see decrease in anxiety before antidepressant effects, Paxil (paroxetine) and other antidepressants have long half lives and build up in your system over time. Prevention of panic attacks and decrease in baseline anxiety is the goal. Be patient. Paxil (paroxetine) is a very good anti anxiety medication. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Horse racing: Picking the winner is not possible. Each medication works well for some and causes problems for others. They're both good.: Both sertraline and Cymbalta [duloxetine] are fine medications with pros and cons. Paxil (paroxetine): Of the two drugs you mention, Paxil (paroxetine) would be better for anxiety and ocd. It is in the ssri class, which is known to treat these conditions. Nefazodone is a sedating antidepressant. It might decrease anxiety via sedation, but is not directly anxiety-relieving. Nor does it treat OCD to the best of my knowledge. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is Celexa or Prozac (fluoxetine) better for generalized anxiety syndrome with some depression. It seems I have more anxiety to Prozac (fluoxetine)?

Therapy should probably be added to the treatment mix as there are various techniques that may be helpful in reducing your symptoms. ...Read more
Neither and both: The best med is the one that works for you. Sometimes you do best with a combo of both. I find that Lexapro (escitalopram) helps obsessing and panic better but can have gi side effects and insomnia. Remeron is very sedating and helps calm the stomach, and promotes sleep but can cause weight gain. It might replace some diazepam. I often combine the two. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Which one is better with anxiety and depression combination?
Depends on you: All of the SSRIs are effective in treating OCD, anxiety, and of course, depression. Different people have different results so no one SSRI is better or worse. Whatever works best for you is the best. Remember, though that higher doses are often needed to help with OCD. Also, you need to give these mess time enough to see if,they are helping. Work with your doc to get the best results. ...Read more
