What Can I Do To Make My Child More Comfortable While Teething
Let them chew: Chewing on something cold and firm is helpful. One idea is to give them a damp washcloth that as been frozen in the freezer to chew on. Commercial teeth rings that can be frozen are available as well. Teething is a normal process. I would avoid medication like painkillers unless absolutely necessary. Most babies really don't need them. ...Read moreSee 8 more doctor answers
My son is 3 weeks old n its really hard to get him to bring up wind is there anything i can give him or anything i can do to help him bring it up?
Burping: Some babies are more difficult to burp, to bring up the gases. Try to give his feedings so he doesn't swallow as much air- have the bottle upright and don't let him gulp the milk. If breast feeding, have his head elevated so he doesn't get too much air. Try different positions to burp him, but don't be too worried if he doesn't burp right away. He may burp later, or pass gas later. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can anyone help me to get my seven year old to start flossing his teeth? I feel like he's certainly ready to begin flossing on his own, but he refuses to try. Is there anything that can be done to make learning how to floss on their own more enjoyable for
I : I had a couple of thoughts in addition to dr. Mcleod's recommendations. There is a book called "brush, floss and rinse" for preschool to grade 1. That might help to stimulate his interest. Play doh now has a "doctor drill n fill playset" that allows the child to play dentist. It looks very fun and might help soften his views on not helping with his own oral care. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 7 month old is severly stuffy and coughing what can I do to make him more comfortable ans breath easier?
Durning pregnancy do your tujmmy make loud noisy and why and how would you know when the baby is sleep?
Baby mostly sleeping: You and i sleep by laying on a bed, or a couch/chair, but a baby in utero is sort of laying/floating 24/7, and i would say sleeping most of the time while the body develops. Periodic movements, which many women begin to feel possibly after 20 something wks, happen all the time (same as adult--we move during sleep). Your tummy makes noise--gas moving around, as my does too. Consult doc. Good luck. ...Read more
How long will i need to watch or monitor my daughter brushing her teeth? My daughter turned six, and i think she's now able and ready to brush her teeth on her own. I want to be there to watch while she does it for a while to make sure she's doing it righ
I : I don't think one can put a specific time as to when a child is responsible enough to brush their teeth adequately. Every child matures at a different pace. How do you feel about the job your daughter is doing? Does she take at least a minute to complete her routine, or does she take 10 seconds? I would monitor her (possibly from a short distance) to see how well she does it. Most children want to please their parents and don't want to be reprimanded. When you bring her for her check ups, what does her dentist say? How clean are her teeth? That may give you more insight as to how well she is doing. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My child will not not brush her teeth (only once a week), what can I do to make her start being more hygenic?
Who's the adult?: You don't say your child's age. This mean a lot. Some kids don't like their mouths messed with, while some don't care. If you child is old enuf to want something then perhaps you can trade off..Something they want for brushing their teeth or letting you brush there teeth. Remember as a parent...Choose your battles wisely. Also, try letting the brush with you in the morning. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My 8-month-old just started biting me very hard when i try to nurse him. The pain is too intense to bear. I want to continue nursing but how can i?
Consistent response: Your baby does not know "right or wrong" yet. So as he starts doing something you do not approve of - in this case biting while nursing- you must have a consistent response. Take him off breast for 30-60 seconds while telling him firmly but lovingly "no biting" and repeat that the zillion times it takes him to get the message. (it won't take a zillion, but the message must be every time he bites). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: Every baby, and every child, needs quiet time, separate from sleep time. Whereas it's great fun to make a baby laugh, you will notice that whatever you are doing to get that belly laugh will eventually over-stimulate your baby and make them cry. You do not need to play with him constantly. You will both enjoy the quiet times too. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Good for her!: It is always encouraging to have graduated exercise programs for pregnant ,mom's as it can shorten and ease eventual labor. The rising uterus after the first trimester will minimize your sister's ability to do sit ups very soon. There are other types of exercises that will not compromise her or her fetus' wellbeing that involve cardio and stretching. The fetus is enclosed in a cushioned water sac. ...Read more

Is there anything I can give my 16 month old to soothe a horrible cough? She can't sleep and humidifiers seem to make it worse.
Not sure: I certainly sympathize with your problem...Does she also have a fever? Any rash? Has she had anything like this in the past? Is there any lifestyle choices i can do to make my fetus not turn out to be a fussy/irritable infant? He's very active at 27 weeks. Anything i can do to calm and ease him?
No: The only cause and effect evidenced by medical study that causes a fussy/irritable baby is the effect of drugs like cocaine, heroin and caffeine. Even a stressed out mom does not cause a stressed out baby since the physiological effects of maternal stress are transient. The good news; active infants at 27 weeks gestation do not predict actual infant behaviou after birth. Good luck! stay happy. ...Read more
My autistic 7 year old is in school . What can I do at home to help him? How do I get him to dress and bath , himself and talk more?
M going to throw up (i'm not pregnant) and my teeth hurt making it difficult to chew. I always try to force myself but continue to not eat. Any ideas?
Teething: If your child is in pain with his/her teething, then giving paracetamol or ibuprofen may help. Gently rubbing over the affected gum with your clean finger may ease the pain. Many children find that biting on a clean and cool object is soothing (for example, a chilled teething ring or a clean, cold, wet flannel). Chewing on chilled fruit or vegetables may help. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
My son has autism. He is not a picky eater however he will not sit to eat. Sometimes I have to feed him to get him to eat. What can I do about this?
Behavioral therpay: A little compromise, reward mechanism and positive feedback helps. For example, if the autistic child likes a certain activity or desert, one can use those as a positive reinforcement tool. A reward mechanism is created where the child knows he or she will get rewarded after the meal is completed. One on one consultation with a behavior therapist can provide many tools. You are a good mom. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
