Is there a way to counter the side effect of loose stools caused by viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) &what's considered excessive to the point you should talk to a dr about it?
Exactly how much food needs to be eaten with viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride)....I've read where peanut butter is a good choice...Confusing because most ssri's need no food?
PNB probably good: Peanut butter (pnb) is, as i see it, an almost wonder food when eaten with other healthy foods and in amounts that do not push you over an appropriate calorie count for your level of physical activity. There are a lot of calories in a relatively small amount of pnb. About a tsp of pnb may be enough to help with nausea from viibryd; but if not, pnb on a small piece of bread may help better. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
No, mostly.: But that's because it's a really new drug, so it's not prescribed "often" for anything! It IS an antidepressant, and all antidepressants are also used as antianxiety meds. This is because depression and anxiety are often considered to be flip sides of the same coin within psychiatry. If you are not comfortable with idea of the med, talk to your doc. Otherwise, maybe try it and see how it goes? ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Question..Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) has been tough to prescribe because of insurance..A new one brintellix just introduced..Whats the good if insurances won't cover the?
New SSRI's: Both viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) and Brintellix are technically ssri's, but they affect more serotonin receptor types than others. Brintellix was just approved in the us in october, but the company claims it may help the cognitive problems of depression more than others, and also have less sexual side effects. You would have to pay the difference out-of-pocket if your insurance did not cover it, though. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
My doctor just prescribed viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) 20 for depression, will this help the terrible joint pain I have with due to arthritis? Thank you!
MAYBE: Viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) boosts the neurotransmitter serotonin in two ways. Usually for pain you may want to go for a mix of serotonin and norepinephrine like in Cymbalta to Effexor higher doses or pristiq. Additionally the 20mg is a starting dose and may need to be increased over time as tolerated. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Have tried pristiq, (desvenlafaxine) wellbutrin, paxil, celexa, effexor, lexapro, etc. With lithium, haliperidol &abilify. A couple improve mood. Still anxious!thoughts?
Many meds: You've tried many meds already, although there are some you haven't mentioned that often help anxiety: buspirone, beta-blockers, other mood stabilizers besides lithium, etc. But after a person has tried so many medications and still has symptoms, i'd suggest non-medication approaches: psychotherapy, mindfulness, relaxation training, exercise/yoga, etc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Is there any particular type of anxiety/depression you would use viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) for..As it seems like an ssri plus Buspar only--could it be helpful for ocd?

Zoloft (sertraline): All drugs have effects and side effects. Typically Zoloft (sertraline) and the other SSRI's cause insomnia (do not take before bedtime), but paradoxically, they can also cause somnolence, sleepiness and a feeling of the blahs- like your emotional spectrum is narrowed. Get a good psychiatric evaluation. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Hypothetically should viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) be activating or sedating? (keeping in mind we are all different) and can it be used for ocd/anxiety?
Can 20 mg Lexapro/60 Cymbalta/40 viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) be too much serotonin ..seem better on 10 lexapro?
Discuss w/ Dr: It's not exactly an issue of 'too much' serotonin, but except for that, you might be right to seek a consult about the dosages and perhaps even eliminate a Rx cautiously as possible. Please consider that adding CBT Tx optimizes outcomes w/ or w/out medication and makes good sense. Ask about a referral and dose reduction, etc. Best! ...Read more
