Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In my last ultrasound I was told that my egg count was of 4. Does that mean that I only have 4 eggs till I menopause?

In my last ultrasound I was told that my egg count was of 4. Does that mean that I only have 4 eggs till I menopause?

No: The fertility specialists use an ultrasound view of the ovaries to count the number of "antral follicles" seen. The number is called the "egg count", and sort of estimates how her total eggs situation is in her ovaries. If a woman has an average or normal egg count, then there is a better chance of her responding to fertility treatments. If a low egg count, the treatments may not work well. ...Read more

What is says: The only way to interpret this is literal. It sounds like the doctor detected that you ovulated and that there is a small follicle on the other. Further details would requre reviewing the actual sonogram. The best person to ask is the doctor who ordered the test. ...Read more

Fertility: Not sure exactly what the Ultrasound would have showed. But if you have issues with possible fertility, you both need to be evaluated by a fertility specialist. If your wife has no egg production, that would be something that the fertility specialist may be able to help you both with in the long run. Good luck. ...Read more

If my blood test yesterday came back with a LH level of 71 and obgyn through ultrasound saw an egg and told me I was about to ovulate, when will I? Also will low progesterone (2.1) cause for no fertilization?

Ovulation testing: Your Progesterone level should be done 7 days after the expected day of ovulation. No period for 8months went to doc did a transvaginal ultrasound results normal. They said I had eggs is there any chance I could get preg really fast?

Yes and no: Not having a period for 8 months isn't normal at age 21. I would worry that you have undiagnosed PCOS. Having said that, it's possible that you can get pregnant at any time, given that your cycle isn't regular, you might release an egg before you have a period. Anovulation is one of the hallmarks of PCOS, excess or unwanted hair is another. Have doc test your thyroid, and prolactin as well. ...Read more

Today I had ultrasoud, overies, utres shape, size normal, multiple smal egg, 26day of perds, tok clomid150mg, can I conceive, lite pain/heavines in left brest?

Sounds like PCOS: About a week after taking Clomid (clomiphene) you should have a mature follicle about 18mm in size. If all the eggs are still small then it is not likely that you are ovulating. If you are still not ovulating on 150mg you may need to add metformin or fsh injections. ...Read more

Are two weeks added to ultrasound gest. Age like when calculating from the lmp? Eg, u/s on jan 13 estimated 9+1 age. So I conceived roughly nov 9?

Yes: Ultrasound for pregnancy uses the same 40 week gestation time as OB to be consistent. So, the reference date is the time of the last menstrual period, not ovulation.

Honestly, I don't know why the medical community hasn't changed this except that it has been accepted for so long. ...Read more

Is it bad to eat two large eggs everyday? I'm a 22 year old female. My friend told me I shouldn't because of cholesterol.

Depends: The yolk has the largest amount of cholesterol. One yolk gives you half of what the total recommended amount of saturated fat you need. If you are not eating any other sources of saturated fat for the whole day, then its fine but if you are eating meat, eating out, eating cookies/cakes/etc then you are definitely getting the saturated fat. So try for about 3-4 yolks per week and more egg white. ...Read more

I'm seven months pregnant have been eating three eggs a day every morning for about two months is this bad and why or why not?

Good nutrition but..: Eggs are an excellent source of nutrition containing protein & many vitamins & minerals that are good building blocks for your baby. While eggs do contain cholesterol, eating eggs does not necessarily raise your cholesterol levels. However, I strongly recommend that you eat organic eggs, which are widely available & affordable-otherwise they are from chickens feed gmo corn & soy which I would avoid! ...Read more

How accurate are the baby ultrasound measurements? Is it possible to give or take two weeks?

How accurate are the baby ultrasound measurements? Is it possible to give or take two weeks?

It depends: In 1st trimester the measurements are very reliable. At the anatomy screen/survey (usually 18 - 22 weeks) the dating can be off by a couple of weeks. Standard measurements include two head measurements (the most accurate) and measurements of the abdomen circumference and the femur (thigh bone). Dating in the 3rd trimester becomes less accurate. ...Read more
