My husband, 49 years had a heart attack 2 years ago and had a stent put in, is on chronic medication for his heart. He has a pain in his upper back.
Possible: It would be somewhat atypical as a symptom, but certainly possible. More concerning is the condition known as aortic dissection which commonly causes upper back pain. Of course numerous orthopedic conditions of the spine also cause this symptom. Get it checked out immediately if it is abrupt in onset and uncomfortable. ...Read more
Dull ache in left upper back near shoulder blade. Worried about heart attack as I have read women often complain of this as a symptom?
Very unlikely: At your age - 31 - it is very unlikely that you would have disease of the blood vessels in the heart causing blockages and pain in chest or rarely back. Young women can sometimes have heart disease, but almost always there are risk factors which include smoking (major risk), use of oral contraceptives, strong family history, diabetes, high cholesterol+/or high BP. In their absence, very unlikely. ...Read more
Woke up with dull pain in upper back(no specific spot) and some reflux that both have lasted all day. Common heart attack symptom? Or my anxiety?
Probably not: more likely your symptoms are GI or musculoskeletal in nature, if going by the odds. Why? Because of the description of your symptoms, your young age, and your gender. Could be muscular.: Given your medical information, symptoms and normal ECG, this could very well be muscular. Could be tension as well. Or simply postural. My doctor said the veins in my heart are in spasm, what does this mean and how is it treated. I have had attacks like a heart attack starts in my upper back going into my chest throat and jaw lasting about 15 to 20 minutes. He also said I have no blockage
Coronary Spasm: What you have is something called coronary vasospasm. The arteries that supply blood to your heart are made partly from muscles (like your intestines). Just like the muscles in the rest of the body, the muscles in these arteries can spasm. This causes the blood vessel to squeeze down on itself. This can then cause blood flow restriction. We usually treat this with medications, like nitro. ...Read more
What are the main signs of a heart attack in a woman im 47 years old and I have been having some pain in the left side of my neck and upperback
I will list some of the symptoms of a mycocardial infarction (heart attack). Chest pain, tightness, squeezing or fullness is the most common presentation. However the pain can also present in the upper back, the upper middle abdomen, jaw, head, teeth or in the arms (left more than right). One could have nausea, vomiting or it could feel like indigestion or heartburn. Feeling short of breath, sweating and just feeling out of sorts can also occur. About a fourth of people have no significant symptoms during a heart attack.
You asked specifically about symptoms in women. The following statistics are from a national institute of health study. 43% of women had no chest pain. 58% were short of breath; 55% had marked weakness; 43% experienced fatigue, with cold sweats in 39% & dizziness in 39%.
According to the study preceding their heart attacks women experienced the following symptoms: unusual fatigue - 70%; sleep disturbance - 48%; shortness of breath - 42%; indigestion - 39% and anxiety - 35%.
I hope this helps. Take care. ...Read more

Bleeding risk: You are 43 and relatively young for a heart attack. You live in iowa. It is likely that your stent requires that you take plavix, (clopidogrel) a potent drug. They may have used a device to close the needle site. ...Read more

Feeling pain in the left side of chest and back since mornin. Presently BP is 60/105. Is this symptom of heart attack? What should I do to get relief?
I haven't walked in a while but when I walked two miles, I felt very winded. How can I start back walking wthout feeling like im having a heart attack?
Walking: I think your body is just trying to tell you to go a little slower. That is, reduce your initial efforts to just half a mile for several weeks, after a few weeks, increase to a mile, after another month or two try a mile and a half, and so on. Unless your health conditions are not adquately uncontrolled, you should be able to build up this way. Your body likes to have time to adapt. ...Read more

Most likely not: But if you start having other symptoms (shortness of breath, pressure, etc) then see a doc. It is more likely that it is something like gerd, pancreas issues, things of that nature. I would recommend making an appointment with your primary doc to do a thorough history and physical to get an accurate diagnosis. ...Read more
