You need to stretch your quads and slowly return you activity level in a controlled fashion to allow your tendon to build up tolerance again to the activities you do. Unlikely: As a former patient that suffered from this, i needed rest and a knee brace with a patellar cut-out. Also, running on flat surfaces (treadmill) does not exacerbate.
