Respiratory Virus Panel Pcr
Polymerase chain reaction is a method of finding a specific piece of dna and copying it over and over again until there is enough to study. The technique allows a scientist to detect very small amounts of dna in a swab sample then reproduce enough of it to study it. It is very sensisitive for detecting the presence of certain bacteria and is also used in doing other ...Read more
Zinc!: There are many home and tradtional remedies for the common cold, yet little clinical data convincingly supporting one supplement over another. However, clinical studies with human subjects do support zinc lozenges used early in the course of an upper respiratory infection to decrease the length of the illness. Remember to start them early for the best results! ...Read more
Hiv 1/2 blood analysis:

- IgG antibodies (enzyme immunoassay):nonreactive
in this case, is HIV infection accurate?
What does a high EBV viral nuclear capsid antibody, a high EBV viral capsid antibody IgG and a high IgM EBV viral capsid antibody mean, what's it mean?
Likely immunity,,: You've got antibodies to the ebv which likely means you were infected at some time in your life and you recovered and now your body has circulating antibodies to it. An igg antibody in particular indicates long term resistance. This virus usually causes asymptomatic infection so you probably fought it off and weren't aware of it. Best of luck. ...Read more
Can CMV virus and type 2 diabetes together make the HIV western blot and PCR viral load tests false positive for hiv?
Does VCA IgG value 77.1 u/ml and EBV IgM value less than 10 shows current Epstein Barr Virus infection?
No: They are separate viruses that stimulate the production of different antibodies that do not cross react. ...Read more
Past EBV infection: The presence of igg to the ebv capsule means that your body was exposed at some time in the past to ebv and made antibodies against it. It is at its highest level 2-3 months after the initial infection, and it will always be present. An elevated igm level would be consistent with current/recent infection. ...Read more

Nasal mucous: Nasal mucous can be submitted to the lab for identification of the RSV antigen (protein) through immunoflorescent or enzyme immunoassay. These are available in kit form to hospitals & some offices. The test is seldom preformed unless the patient is hospitalized. The test itself does not predict the severity of illness but knowing test results simplifies supportive care as RSV is somewhat predictabl. ...Read more
Is LABCORP "Hepatitis C Virus (HCV) Antibody Verification" test used as was used riba test for ruling out/in false positive hep C HCV antibody results?
Had EBV test came back EBV nuc IgG ser qi eia positive and EBV vac IgG eia postive. Ebv capsid IgM eia negative. I'm so tired what do this mean?
Makes perfect sense: Igm antibodies rise only during the actual, acute infection. They then fade away and are replaced by the various igg antibodies, which are the ones that provide lifetime protection against the same strain of the virus. So your numbers are consistent with the fact you had mono years ago. There is no igm, and positive igg levels. So you are immune and do not currently have mono. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

HIV NEGATIVE combo (antibody + antigen) tests at 4,6,10,13,14 weeks and PCR RNA VL UNDETECTED (14 weeks) white tongue, chronic pharyngitis. Am I HIV-?
You are HIV negative: Listen, man. Stop doing this to yourself. Get to an otolaryngologist and see if you have a post-nasal drip, maybe heavy snoring without realizing it, or some actual serious illness. Try scraping the stuff off your tongue with a piece of dental floss; if it's still white patches, ask your dentist's opinion also. But please get over these HIV fears. Maybe even be thankful for having shared love. ...Read more
Surprise: When the serology test was first used it was thought to be diagnostic. Eventually it was found that most people were positive. It appears that the eb virus is an opportunist organism that is "waiting in the wings" for some body chemistry that provides its advantage. Then the serology titre (concentrration) goes up as the organism becomes active. ...Read more
