Unsure: There are many different possibilities as to why you may have the bump. One possible explanation could be a clogged gland which is not harmful. Is there any possible exposure to STDs? If there is pain, that might suggest cold sore, and if it does go on to blister, then cold sore it is. Probably sun: The most likely explanation is sun/UV light exposure to normal small salivary glands in the lips causing a small amount of inflammation. Because it is painless It is much less likely to be a cold sore due to the herpes virus. I believe it should resolve on its own. Keep your lips moisturized with use of an OTC lip balm. Boil (abscess): You're probably describing a boil or minor skin abscess (pocket of pus). As long as it's drained, you should be fine. But watch out for any surrounding redness or worsening pain. Obviously fevers, sweats & chills are a bad sign. If possible, take a ball point pen to the area & make a tight circle around it. Then date & time it for comparison later.
