Why do I feel like I am sinking into myself when I am sitting down? Is this a symptom of prediabetes or complete dehydration of disc joints? No energy

Why do I feel like I am sinking into myself when I am sitting down? Is this a symptom of prediabetes or complete dehydration of disc joints? No energy

Go see your doctor: I'm not sure what you mean by "sinking into myself". Are you referring to a physical or mental sensation? Prediabetes doesn't usually carry any sensation or symptoms. "complete dehydration of disk joints" should theoretically lead to joint pain. Many reasons for "no energy": anemia, hypothyroidism, depression, etc. Best for you to go see your family doc for evaluation & treatment. Good luck!

How can I tell if my child is starting to have prediabetes symptoms?

How can I tell if my child is starting to have prediabetes symptoms?

Diabetic Symptoms: Common symptoms of childhood type 1 diabetes are polyuria, polydipsia, nocturia & recent weight loss. Children with type 2 diabetes often present with similar symptoms but are less frequent to report weight loss. Some children are asymptomatic & are diagnosed with diabetes based solely on their blood glucose level. Talk with the child's doctor if you are concerned & feel they are at risk.

What are the signs of prediabetes?

What are the signs of prediabetes?

ONE OF THE MOST: Specific symptoms of pre diabetes starts occuring years before... Abdominal weight gain. Central excess adipose tissue, high triglycerides, low good cholesterol levels, mild elevation of liver tests. Fatty liver on ultrasound. However, not everyone develops diabetes, even with all of the above signs, findings and symptoms. Around 80-87% though, quite a high number, don't you think?

Does anyone know about prediabetes? Genetic?

Does anyone know about prediabetes? Genetic?

Probably: Since prediabetes is the forerunner of diabetes, which is a genetically related disease, the prediabetes is most likely genetic. However, the exact genetics have not been worked out. If you have a family with a lot of diabetics, ask your doctor to a blood test.

Can eating a lot of fruits cause prediabetes or diabetes?

Can eating a lot of fruits cause prediabetes or diabetes?

No: Food does not cause pre-diabetes or full diabetes. Overweight does. In pre-diabetics or diabetics the mechanism to keep the glucose levels under the normal range in the blood is lost. Many theories try to explain this like autoimmunity causing Insulin resistance.

If I am treated for hypertension and prediabetes and my numbers are now normal, do these disappear as risk factors in cvd?

If I am treated for hypertension and prediabetes and my numbers are now normal, do these disappear as risk factors in cvd?

Not really.: Being treated for hypertension and "pre-diabetes" does lessen the negative influence they have on your cardiovascular risk, but the fact that you have these health problems does not go away just because your numbers are now normal. Keep follow ups with your treating physician and practice good lifestyle habits, such as a healthy diet and exercise, for maximal risk reduction.

I was diagnosed with pre diabetes. Should I treat it as if I have type two diabetes?

I was diagnosed with pre diabetes. Should I treat it as if I have type two diabetes?

Yes and no....: My personal opinion: if you have some weight to lose and some diet mods to make and some exercise to start I would give you six months to demonstrate some progress. If no progress or you are already lean and active, I would consider putting you on low to mod dose metformin. I would monitor you routinely - maybe every 6 months for complications and development of overt dm.

If my prediabetes was caused by statin drugs how long before I return to normal if statins are discontinued? First ever A1c 5.9%

Dubious: While there have been some reports of diabetes associated with statin use in the press the data is weak. In order to cause diabetes in one person you would have to treat 255 patients with a statin for 4 years. Your glucose intolerance is most likely a product of western diet, age and possible inactivity. Before stopping a statin please consult your doctor.
