4yr old daughter prescribed amoxicillin and steroid Mon. For pharyngitis. Still fever and decreased appetite. Should I take back for re-evaluation.

Pharyngitis: You need to give the medication time to work. Give her lots of fluids and use ibuprofen and acetaminophen alternating. Every four hours give her an alternating dose of Tylenol or Motrin. If she's not better in about 10 days from the start of treatment then take her back in. Don't worry so much about the food as the fluid intake. Hope she feels better soon ...Read more

Six Weeks: Although it is unlikely that you would have picked up HIV from what you have described, it takes about six weeks at the earliest for tests to determine if you picked up HIV from that exposure.
While thrush can be a sign of hiv, I would not expect it to show that quickly after exposure. It is possible that the other person had a yeast infection and you picked that up. ...Read more

Diagnosed acute pharyngitis, 12 days since, fever gone, sore throat gone. Still red spots roof of mouth, white tongue remain. Should I be concerned?

No: Acute pharyngitis is usually a viral infection. I wonder if your PMD put you on an antibiotic. If so, the white tongue could be a fungal infection. Red spots on the palate still could be the viral infection that persists. Do not be concerned, but if the spots persist see either your doctor or a specialist in oral medicine. ...Read more

I was diagnosed with pharyngitis but I have no sore throat just swollen left tonsill and dry mouth low grade fever was I miss dignosaed?

Sounds off: It's not clear without seeing you but, most cases of pharyngitis come with fever and sore throat. I'm worried why you have 1 swollen tonsil, though. Make sure you follow-up on this with your pcp/ent and get some answers. Let's not call it a misdiagnosis just yet, though. ...Read more

Dx viral pharyngitis prescription Mucinex (guaifenesin) & flonase. Draining today earache sore throat and 101.2 temp. Still have fever body aches. Advice? Baby has cold too

I am experiencing sore throat headache throbbing sensation fever pain when swallowing. Doc said its Pharyngitis gave me Azithromycin but its worst now?

Probably viral: Pharyngitis usually is a viral infection, and viruses do not respond to antibiotics. Your doctor probably prescribed azithromycin in case it's strep, but if not, it's not surprising your symptoms are continuing and even getting worse. Check back with your doctor, but probably you'll just have to wait it out. Aspirin or ibuprofen (or related meds) may help control pain. Good luck! ...Read more

URI: Uri=upper respiratory infection. Most are caused by viruses which don't respond to antibiotics. In other words, you need to let them run their course. ? more tests: Pharyngitis (throat infections) in children are usually viral and run their course without antibiotics in a few days.
I'm assuming your child was checked for strep throat as that is a common bacteria that will respond to antibiotics
One question is why your child received antibiotics if Dr felt it was viral. If fever is persisting and child is ill it might be time for a blood count and culture ...Read more
