A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more

Repeated CT&US show dermoid & cysts on ovary. New gyn& us 2day, dermoid gone, now corpus lutem. Can dermoid change, be mistaken for cl? CT misread b4?
Can not say: Without reviewing all of the images it is not wise for us to try and guess which report is right and which report is not. If you are not comfortable with the doctors interpretation it is perfectly reasonable to get a 2nd opinion. ...Read more
Had trans vag US and impression are : complex 1.1cm cyst in cervix likely representing a nabothian cyst. Should i be concerned?
Nabothian cyst: This is totally benign and should be left alone. ...Read more
Not likely: Dermoid cysts have very interesting imaging characteristics based on their content of fat, hair, and frequently bone or teeth, corpus luteum cysts are much more routine and are cystic with surrounding hypervascularity. They may sometimes bleed and contain blood. They also tend to resolve after the period or later in pregnancy. ...Read more
1 CM paraovarian cyst incidentally found on u/s. Is this a simple cyst? All it said was '1 x1cm paraovarian cyst'. F/u not needed, apparently.
Parovarian Cyst: A parovarian cyst is a tiny fluid-filled sac found in 3-4% of women incidentally for other reasons. Depending on whether the cyst is attached to the top of the fallopian tube (the fimbria) or nearby, the cyst may be called a "hydatid cyst of morgagni [see image attached]*" or, simply, a "paratubal cyst." *source: http://www.Sciencedirect.Com /science/article/pii/s1055858605000156. ...Read more
In er, ultrasound showed cysts on both ovaries, and one cyst was lumpy. Could this be ovarian cancer?
It might be.: A cyst might be simple or multi-loculated, that is, many cysts in one with many walls that could contain cancer cells. The cyst might be filled with blood, a hemorrhagic cyst, or fluid, or be something else entirely. That's why it should be examined and possibly removed by laparoscopy, etc.. It would be wise to see your doctor for an exam. Good luck. ...Read more
Ultrasound showed I have enlarged uterus with 2 endometria. No fibroids. But a few 1 cm follicular cysts around ovaries, should I be able to conceive?
Not sure: what "2 endometria" refers to. Do you have an anatomic uterine malformation such as didelphys or septate uterus? If so, there are a number of variations. You may still be able to conceive, but you have to talk to your doctor about what it specifically means in your case. Also, MRI may be useful to further evaluate potential uterine anomalies. ...Read more

I have a SEPTATED 5 cm cyst that my DR thinks is a peritoneal inclusion. I`m 53 yo, negative CA-125 , & asymptomatic. How likely is it cancerous?
Can hormone levels be normal, but drs think you have pcos by seeing 2 big cyst on ovary, maybe enometromas ( low echo sounds) 6 and 8 cm.
Found a small cyst in ovary and got period 2 weeks early. Could it be polycystic ovarian syndrome? Worth a dr visit?
More information: The small cyst and irregular menses is part of the ovarian syndrome group of symptoms but not enough to diagnose polycystic ovarian disease. So If the only symptoms then should be ok if symptoms persist or new ones developed then see a doctor. I hope you are well and take care. ...Read more
Does a paraovarian cyst mimic an ectopic pregnancy? Or are they easily distinguishable on ultrasound?
Essentially you can: Distinguish the two, but could depend on how well you see it. Any time you are pregnant and do not have an intrauterine pregnancy, then ectopic cannot be excluded. The next thing you look for is a mass outside the ovary. In general, it is pretty easy to tell if it is a paraovarian cyst or something more ominous, but certainly not 100% of the time. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Does a Bartholin's cyst sometimes accompany herpes outbreak? Awaiting results on herpes test but also hard tender abscess near left vag opening
Bad luck: Sorry to hear that! quite annoying and painful. One doesn't usually cause the other directly. You will likely need to have the cyst incised and drained by your ob/gyn, er, or fm doc. They will probably pack it so it will be able to drain. They can come back--hopefully not! good luck! ...Read more
