Should i be concerned if my friend has been getting leg cramps a lot lately, i'm worried, what could be wrong?
I am extremely concerned about a bruise on my baby's leg. I am with her 24/7 and haven't heard her cry or seen her hit anything. Should I be concerned?
How old is she?: In a newborn this could be a concern. In a crawler or new walker a bruise can occur without any obvious distress as they eagerly explore their world. If there is only this single bruise on a leg in an otherwise happy, healthy baby, i wouldn't worry. If large or multiple bruises are appearing or the child seems ill or listless, she should be examined. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Should i be concerned if my mother has the disease emphasemia and I have been told to have a blood test but I am worried! can it be treated before i get it?
Yes....: It sounds like you are being tested for alpha-1-anti trypsin deficiency, a cause of emphysema in younger people. If you have this disease, you are at risk of developing emphysema, a form of copd, at a younger age as well as liver disease. But, it can be treated by giving the alpha-1 anti trypsin intravenously, which replaces the missing enzyme, and prevents the sequelae. So, please get tested asap. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

In a six year old, most likely this is a normal murmur and not a murmur caused by a heart problem. An experienced listener can hear differences in the sound that predict whether the murmur is normal. Children typically have normal murmurs. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is heart disease genetic? My mom had a heart attack last year at age 62. She's doing ok, but now I am worried that I am more likely to get heart disease, too.
Historically : Historically what we know about heart disease risk came from data obtained through the framingham heart study (see link below) and it was typically felt that a family history of premature heart disease before the age of 55-60 conferred increased risk. Follow up studies have suggested that any family history in first degree relatives likely increases your risk. This is but one of several risk factors however and your personal factors such as age, gender, smoking history, cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes also play significant, and probably greater roles. You can't change your genetics, age, or gender but you certainly can change the other modifiable risk factors. ...Read more
Im a 21 yr old female. 115lbs & 5ft8. Breastfeeding mom. I get an uncomfortable sleeping feeling in my right arm when I wake up. Should I be worried?

My mom has lower backpain. She felt it after mopping. She alao has arthritis. She is worried about bladder infection. What should she do. She is 54 yo?
My boyfriend's fingers are not straight like most of us. He is 25 years old, and his mom suffers from arthritis, and his fingers from both hands are not straight, and i'm scare that he will get worst, so is there any thing he can do?
I : I would recommend starting with a good primary care physician. Without looking at his hands and seeing which way they are bending, it is difficult to start narrowing down a diagnosis. Some hand deformities are inherited, but not necessarily present at birth. Others are progressive and related to inflammatory conditions, one of which is rheumatoid arthritis. Others are related to injuries. Even a simple trigger finger can lock the finger in a bent position. The primary care physician can then decide if a rheumatologist, hand surgeon, or another specialty is most appropriate. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Why do people with rheumatoid arthritis get scleritis so often? My mom has RA and also always seems to have eye problems, particularly scleritis flare-ups. Why is this so common in RA patients?
Not too common: The sclera, just like the joint lining, is a connective tissue. The same immune response can happen in the eye as well. Scleritis is becoming more rare as the tnf medications (humira, cimzia, (certolizumab pegol) Remicade but not enbrel) decrease scleritis greatly. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
