My Home Was Built Before 1950 So Could My Baby Be Exposed To Lead
Yes: Houses built before 1970 may contain lead based paint. Paints now do not contain lead and many of these old houses have now been repainted, however the lead underneath still may pose a risk to children. There are kits you can buy to test the paint on your walls for lead exposure. Test any paint chips you see or parts of the pain flaking off as these are what babies may put in their mouths. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Refers to exposure to lead. Lead can be found in peeling paint chips in buildings built prior to 1978, contaminated soil and water. Soil can be contaminated due to peeling paint and leaded gasoline. Just moved to a new house which was built in 1908. We had one molding sanded and I didn't know that an
underneath layer had lead. I didn't sand it, but I was in the house right after it was done and I'm 9 months pregnant. Will my baby be okay?
Was pregnant 4months water came rushing out my vagina had a miscarriage what can be wrong will i be able to keep a baby in my womb?
Absolutely: Although you may have had a bad outcome the first time, that does not mean that it has to be the same way the next time. You should definitely see a high risk OBGYNbefore you become pregnant again to determine whether or not you might need medications to support your pregnancy or a cerclage to keep your pregnancy in for a longer period. Best of luck. ...Read more
Did some minor touch up paint on holes in the wall and allowed 5 hours for it to dry before my pregnant wife came home. Should I be concerned?
Depends: If you used latex paint, there would be no problem because it is water based and does not contain any solvents that could affect an unborn baby. If you used an oil based enamel paint, even with good ventilation, your wife should avoid the area while there are still fumes in the air. ...Read more
I'm a healthcare worker and my snot dripped into my babies mouth. If MRSA were to be living I my nose what will happen to the baby? She's 7 weeks.
Digestion is great: Chances are the enzymes in babies saliva will begin neutralizing the material and it will be destroyed by acid when it gets to the stomach. MRSA doesn't survive the transit into the distal GI tract. I would be more concerned if you dripped it into her nose. Plan to modify your practices when dealing with baby.Wash hands well and ware a mask if you think you might carry something home from work. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

There is nothing to worry or concerned still you can watch for any changes on your facial skin and if see your doctor . ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
6 mnths pregnant and had pap is their risk to baby? it was painful and then I cramped after. are they supposed to plug speculam in the wall? worried

If i'm in early labor (3cm) and baby hasn't dropped yet could a reason be that he is to big to fit through my pelvis because i was checked today and the nurse said he is high up?
May not be in pelvis: The OB provider who did the exam knows not only dilatation and effacement (thinness) of the cervix but also station of the presenting part. It might be that the fetal part is not even in the pelvis yet so concerns about size might not be warranted. It could be rather that the baby is in some position other than head first. A patient should ask for input after an ultrasound or exam by OB physician. ...Read more
My 5 and 6 y.o. Came home last weekend with a stomach virus, they started back up again today. Is it possible to be re contaminated?
Recurrent GI bug: The immune system 'should have' registered a specific response to the first illness, so it's unlikely it's the same exact virus as before. I think in your children's environment there are probably many different viruses (germs) circulating -and they must have acquired a new but slightly different infection. Either that, or they had so much exposure to the former virus, their system was overwhelmed ...Read more
Paint chipped off weight set and my husband vacuumed it. Afraid that there may have been lead in paint. 29 weeks pregnant. Something to worry about?
Unlikely: Lead paint has been banned from anything that might be residential in nature. If these weights are 40+ years old, it is theoretically possible. That said, vacuuming should have collected much if not all of the paint. You can have it analyzed to tell, but it is unlikely to affect your pregnancy in any event. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Had a baby 3 months ago vaginal delivery now when I pass gas it seems to come from the anus but follow through the vagina what could be causing this?
Possible: Rectovaginal fistula secondary to an episiotomy or tear during delivery, or poor healing/infection of the repair made after surgery. Sometimes the vagina can trap air and when you relax to pass rectal gas, gas trapped in the vagina will also pass. The latter is normal. The former requires surgery to fix. See a colorectal surgeon for the former. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

3 things?: The "crack" could have been from a hard substance in the jerky, a jaw joint noise, or another tooth. My daughter is 9 months, I had csection w/ her due to her being a breech baby. Can I try vbac? There might be a possibility that I might be pregnant.
You can try,: I would recommend waiting until your daughter's first birthday to attempt future pregnancies. You should talk to your obstetrician about trial of labor after cesarean section (tolac), taking into account that the risks associated with it can only be offset by future pregnancies. If you want only one more pregnancy i would recommend repeat cesarean section and bilateral tubal ligation (btl). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Yes: Children are generally tested for lead exposure at 12 months and again at 5 years. Houses built before 1950 generally have lead paint and if you live in one its a good idea to test the walls for lead exposure. Babies, especially when they become mobile, will eat paint chips and even a little lead may build up over time and can cause problems. Make sure your dr knows the age of your house. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
