Hypothyroid causes muscle weakness does it leads to GERD by loosening the esophageal sphincter muscle?
Maybe!: Thanks for asking b/c until i just searched, i would've thought no. While i can't find any traditional evidence linking the two, enough people have written online to various forums complaining about such a link that it can't be a coincidence. My guess is that we need to treat one's hypothyroidism aggressively & adequately enough to regain les strength. I look forward to what GI colleagues say. ...Read more

Hard to say,,: It looks like, from your history, that you've had a great deal of issues. Your gallbladder being removed may have, at least in part, been due to gallstones which would explain a lot of the bile duct situation. Gastric bypass also has complications. But your liver also has something going on now that you need to see your doctor soon to find the cause and treat before it gets worse. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Anal pain&stool leakage, did a colonoscopy& everything seemed normal.I think I have sphincter spasm which causes constipation which worsens spasm??
Increase Fiber: This sounds terrible for you. Chronic constipation can result in anal pain and spasm. Ideally, increasing your fiber by eating a lot of vegetobles -- I recommend a pound per day -- will soothe your constipation and provide your daily dose of fiber. With a normal colonoscopy, often we have to circle back to lifestyle modification to help. Also try 4 prunes a day. Very effective for constipation. ...Read more

Injection: A steroid injection into the prepatellar bursa and/or fat pad could calm your symptoms and allow rehab to be more effective. M77 , biopsy of vastus laterilus muscle says "secondary neurogenic atrophy with super imposed inflmatory myopathy" which disease this may be?thanks
Your doctor needs: to findout if you have any cause for your neuropathy. This can be from many causes - usually diabetes or alcohol or other drugs are the cause. You need to go over with your doctor what possible things in your life are responsible for it. The secondary inflammation suggests you have a compromised immune system or slightly weakened one. People usually do not get inflammation of the muscle. ...Read more
