Tonight I had 2 beers. It was two hours ago that I had my last one and I've also had two bottles of water. Can I safely take my mucinex DM?
Theoretically yes,: no interaction between beer and dextromethorphan, the cough sedating component of the Mucinex DM, but if two beers make you drowsy, and the dextromethorphan has this potential too, so it won't be advisable. Good that you asked, and good that you drank lot of plain water to flush your system, good luck ...Read more
Maybe...: If a person had no problems taking Mucinex DM in the past, and she had no problems taking acetaminophen (Tylenol) in the past, then she should be fine this time taking both medications (because the two medications have different ingredients) either together or apart... as along as she is not taking too much of either medicine than she should take in one day. ...Read more
I took 100mg of Tramadol. If I was to take a Mucinex-DM tablet would there be any reaction or negative side effects?
Several things : Could happen. Both medications can be sedating so combining the two may make you drowsy. Also both can enhance serotonin effects in the body like agitation, fever, tremors, palpitations, muscle spasms, and skin flushing. You may want to review this with your physician if it a combo you feel like you'll needs for several days or more. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I just took mucinex DM with my Zoloft, looked up drug interactions for my propranolol and found out I just set myself up for SS, what should I do?
Bought some Mucinex dm today for cough and chest congestion. I also take 20mg of Lexapro (escitalopram). Drugs dot com says major interactions. Uhhhh? Can I take?
Ask pharmacist or Dr: This is very troubling indeed. And everything I've read supports what you found. Don't risk a potentially life-threatening interaction but do try to find an alternative to Lexapro (escitalopram) w/ your doctor. It's not the guaifenesin part, so you could take Mucinex pills and gargle w/ salt water for throat pain and drink honey-lemon-tea-(bit of bourbon). Sorry, but you actually may find this to work better! ...Read more
I take Paxil (paroxetine) and clonazepam and i have cold/flu I need medicine but the only thing recommended is Mucinex dm which never worked for me! Is there anything else I can take that is safe less side effects?
Try topicals: The only interaction between OTC cold medicines and paroxetine is the increased risk for serotonin syndrome (rare). If you have a history of this syndrome or any others - I'd call your doctor. In the meantime - I'd suggest an intranasal spray (Nasacort) and Chloraseptic Max throat drops to treat the symptoms. DayQuil should be ok - but check with your doctor since they know your history. G'luck! ...Read more
