My 12 year old son is having lower abdominal pain on the right and left side as well as low-mid back pain. What could be the problem? He is in pain, no fever, he has had regular bowel movements.
These symptoms could be a sign of a urinary tract or kidney infection. Appendicitis is also a concern but less likely. Regardless, he needs to be evaluated by his pediatrician right away. A simple urine test will be the first step, followed by an additional diagnostic testing that the doctor feels is necessary.
Good luck. ...Read more

Can abdominal pain (upper, middle, lnavel) and mid-back pain point to something more sinister at 22? Current diagnosis: gastritis, hiatal hernia, flat back
I've had mid-back pain and upper middle and left abdominal pain that has been very bad at night for the past week. I haven't had much sleep or restful sleep. My chest feels tight, also. Should I go to the ER or wait to be seen on Monday?
Go to the ER: What you describe could be a pancreatitis, a colitis, and esophagitis with severe heartburn. This could also be an ulcer. As your abdominal pain is on the left side, it is less likely but still possible to be a gallbladder problem. As it is worse at night a hiatal hernia with gastritis and acid reflux or an ulcer are more likely. It is time to get a diagnosis. ...Read more
