Using colocort enema every 3 days to control inflammation from colitis in addition to asacol (mesalamine) daily. Is long time usage of colocort bad? No problem yet

Using colocort enema every 3 days to control inflammation from colitis in addition to asacol (mesalamine) daily. Is long time usage of colocort bad? No problem yet

Maybe: Colocort is a steroid medication. Although you are using it in limited fashion and in a topical form, there is still systemic absorption and, over time, steroid side effects can occur (bone loss, glucose intolerance, hip problems, cataracts, etc). Best to discuss your concerns with your provider to see if Mesalamine enemas would help or if you need a different steroid sparing medication. ...Read more

I'm 10w pregnant & I've allergy that keeps getting worse sneezing itching ears & throat congestion & the PA told me i can take allegra (fexofenadine) ! Is it safe?

No Allegra (fexofenadine): Claritin (loratadine) and Zyrtec (cetirizine) are pregnancy category B medications which means that animal reproduction studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus. I frequently use these medications with my pregnant patients. Allegra (fexofenadine) is category C so I would avoid this medication and stick with the ones listed above. If concerned, talk to OB/GYN about specific medications. ...Read more

Benefit of cimetropium bromide in controlling ibs-c. Does it interact with perindopril, indapamide or bisoprolol. Can it be taken with benzodiazepines?

Multiple medications: Cimetropium bromide is an anticholinergic medication and smooth muscle relaxant, used to decrease bowel spasms, pain and abdominal distention in ibs. It's not available in the us., but your note says you're from india. I didn't find interactions with your other BP meds. You don't say which benzo, but i'd be watching for possible sedation or dizziness. Ask your prescribing doctor specifically. ...Read more

Hives are relatively common and but whether they are related to anaphylaxis or not is often hard to sort out.If your asthma flared and the hives appeared at the same time, they may be connected and you should consult the treating doc immediately. ...Read more
