Small cut @ salon from nail file. Cleaned it w/ soap and water. Nail tech put some sort of glue on it. Not sure about sanitation conditions. Hep risk?
Unlikely: It is possible to transmit infections through a cut but unlikely to come from a nail file unless it had another persons blood on it. You did the best thing which was to wash with soap and water. Anything is possible but it would be highly unlikely for you to have contracted an infection from this event. ...Read more
HepC risk.I have pimples, open wound on scalp as i wear wig.barber use hair trimmer machine to shave scalp for wig.machine had blood of previous client?
Small possibility: While it would be very hard to transmit HCV in that manner, if there were fresh blood on the instrument and it was contaminated with infected blood containing HCV which then came in contact with a cut or opening in your skin, then it could theoretically occur. Get your blood tested and if negative, perhaps you can shave at home with your own dedicated hair trimmer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Possible: In general it requires a fairly large innoculum to acquire HIV or hep c from a procedure such as a close haircut. There are no relevant case reports in the literature that I have found of such a transmission. You should require anyone performing any procedures on your body to use appropriate, clean (sterile) equipment. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Is it good practice or overkill to sanitize new grooming implements such as a New Safety Razor, Nail Clipper etc. ?
Could be overkill: Life is never 100% safe. If we aren't willing to live with some risks, we can't live at all, not even locked within our own homes. So, live freely and use those razors and nail clippers right out of their boxes. ...Read more
