Is taking vitamin E in special diet that contain around 400iu of it daily superior and better than taking vit e pill? For NASH or nafld? Bmi 19.5. 24y
What special diet: In general i approve of getting nutrients from our diets when possible but it's nearly impossible to get 400 iu of vit e from our diets. For example, 2 of the richest sources are almonds & sunflower seeds, but it takes nearly 2 1/2 pounds of these to supply that much e- not recommended- too much fat & calories! look for a natural vit e with mixed tocopherols.L-carnitine 1000 mg 2x/day also helps. ...Read more
I was told by an ENT to use budesinide inhalant along with saline solution, 3ml of buedonsise and 2 mil water into my nasal each on one for 4 min with?
Complaint?: You don't tell us what your complaint is. But if you saw an ENT doctor, he is treating you for either allergic rhinitis, non-allergic rhinitis, or possibly sinusitis. I would not recommend the use of water for 2 reasons. It may dilute the concentration of the budesonide, a topical steroid. Also i would advise Normal Saline (salt rather than water but only 30 minutes before or after the drug. ...Read more

Bitten by unknown insect. Redness and swelling to forarm. Marked with pen and doubled in size over 36hrs. Taking non drowsy antihistamines and icing?
Ice: Benadryl (or your choice of a non-sedating antihistamine such as Zyrtec, Claritin, or Allegra), ice, and ibuprofen is a good initial treatment for insect bites. Infection is a possible delayed complication. If you develop a boil, a discolored blister, fever, increasing pain, or other concerning signs, see a physician for an exam. ...Read more

heard of diet called "shape reclaimed". u take drops ea day in water & there is hormones from sheep in it? Is this.safe? u r on low carb diet also
Safe, ?effective: I spent a fair amount of time exploring their website. I was not able to learn if the hormones come from sheep but since it is homeopathic it would only have trace amounts. But homeopathy is quite safe and the diet looks reasonable. I like that it is administered/supervised by health professionals. No research to show how effective it is but does look safe. If you try it tell us your results! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Yes: 500mg a day of vitamin c is fine. The RDA on vitamin bottles is just the amount you need to avoid scurvy or other diseases. I wouldn't go any higher than 500 though. More importantly is why are you doing this? ANy issue? Trying to avoid something or prevent something for your children? ...Read more
Widespread itching all over my body with no rash or lesions. Comes and goes...responds well to Allegra (fexofenadine). Anxiety?
I am taking regular allegra (fexofenadine) 24 hours along with flonase and eye drops. Not getting much relief....is it safe to also take zyrtec d or sudafed d?
It is safe to take: sudafed, but not zyrtec and allegra (fexofenadine) together-only 1 or the other. I would try zyrtec, it is stronger than allegra (fexofenadine). No decongestants if you have high blood pressure. No zyrtec D and sudafed together, as they both contain decongestants. Use zyrtec plain. ...Read more
4+mo w lrg patches w intense itching, esp at night, of hives which spread from scalp to legs. Otc allergy meds not helpful. Night sweats w fatigue.
Time to see HCP: Hives lasting more than 6 weeks are considered chronic and require a few lab tests to be certain that they are not a symptom of a more serious internal condition. Your primary care provider can perform this workup. Until then make sure that you are taking enough otc allergy medications. Allegra 180 mg, Claritin 10 mg and zyrtec 10 mg are longer-acting & often more effective than benadryl (diphenhydramine). ...Read more
Yes: It is near impossible to overdose on B12 as it is water soluble and easily excreted. My question is do you have a known deficiency or not? If so, levels should be followed by your physician. If not, you probably aren't gaining too much from these high levels besides a lot of B12 in your urine. ...Read more
SAM E and phenobarbital or tmg for high bilrubin ( gs) (yellow eyes)? Are these safe to take? I have no any other issues. Just yellow eyes!
Taking Allegra in the day and Benadryl (diphenhydramine) at night for rash from Johnson's oil. Can either cause rash? If so, what are other alternatives?
Cortaid (hydrocortisone): Antihistamines don't help much with rashes due to contact allergens. You'll do much better with 1% Hydrocortisone cream applied twice daily until a few days after the rash goes away. If it doesn't seem to help, see your physician for some more effective prescription options. ...Read more
For 57+ F with stage-2 osteoarthritis of knee joints, which one is better - Uniflexin tablets or Collagen Peptide along with calcium & vitD medicines?
Osteoarthritis: The best medicine would be vitamin D 1000 units a day along with calcium. I am more concerned with your osteoarthritis of knee joints. There are many ways to control this and you should see a leg specialist as soon as possible - no urgency but no delay. Please let me know how things go. ...Read more
