Is it safe to use oragel to treat pain on a lip wound that has stitches?

Is it safe to use oragel to treat pain on a lip wound that has stitches?

However, if you need to, you can carefully apply a small dab with a clean Q-tip, and it should be safe. Don't apply too much pressure, and don't disturb the stitches. If the wound is still bleeding or oozing, then don't apply anything...wait for healing. ...Read more

Hello,: Hello, some people do apply orajel® to the tongue. The danger is if your tongue becomes numb, you could very easily bite it and thus injure it more. The other problem is if you had an allergic reaction, your tongue could swell. Cough drops that contain Benzocaine or menthol would also provide some numbing action. For an acute burn, consider dipping your tongue in very cold water or sucking gently on a popsicle. Yogurt with active cultures can be helpful. Please do not put adult orajel® on a baby’s tongue. Do not use adult orajel® for babies. ...Read more
