First, what is worse: Is it the numbness and tingling. Is it pain or stiffness? There are times when during the surgery increase pressure or contact occurs with the nerve this is especially true in more severe cases. There are other times where full blown numbness pre-op turns into dysethesia or painful tingling which may mean an "improvement" in nerve transmission even if it feels worse as before you felt nothing. ...Read more

Yes: It takes time for the inflamed tissue to heal both from where the surgery was done and from around the nerve that was injured. Then it will take time for the nerve itself to heal.
