Could an Ambien (zolpidem) tab not activate right after ingesting? I wasn't able to fall asleep, but 8hrs later, I got dizzy with vertigo. I ate 2x in between.
A bad generic?: I personally have taken a generic of Ambien (zolpidem) that while it did help me sleep caused me to feel dizzy, nauseous, and to have brief spell of vertigo in the morning as well. I have had patients describe certain generics that simply did not help with sleep when the brand always did. So while I am very concerned that people take Ambien (zolpidem) the correct way, I do believe there are some bad generics out there. ...Read more
Hi I drank baron beer and was not drunk but after one can I fall asleep and woke up but as I stand up I black out. After that I had vertigo?
Low blood pressure: After only one beer it is highly unlikely that the beer caused you to be so sleepy. You may have been drugged. What other medication did you take with the beer? When you stood up you got dizzy which meant your blood pressure was too low. Rest, don't drink anything other than water and see your doctor if it continues. ...Read more

Shocks on sleep:
These "shocks" are most like "myoclonic jerks" which is normal but pronounced in some people and can wake them up. If this is keeping you awake ask your reg doc to prescribe some Ambien (zolpidem) for about a week, because Ambien (zolpidem) is SHORT acting and will get you through to stage IV sleep without the hang over of long acting benzo the next day. Thanks. ...Read more

Every night I fall asleep I wake up with a tingling sensation in the ulnar nerve distrubtion of my hand. Is nerve gliding a good tx approach?
Possibly a first try: Nerve gliding is unlikely to make your symptoms worse, and many people find that it is helpful, especially when combined with antiinflammatories and avoidance of pressure on the elbow. If symptoms persist, a nerve block can be helpful, as can wearing cushioned pads while asleep to prevent pressure and excessive flexion at the elbows. Surgical decompression is sometimes required if all else fails. ...Read more

There has been a lot written about non-occupational risk factors for carpal tunnel syndrome. In one study out of boston about 11-12 years ago in fact it was determined that women who took birth control pills had an increased incidence of carpal tunnle compared to women who did not. The problem with a lot of studies is that while statistically it seems to implicate certain behaviors or co medical conditions or medications it doesn't help you as an individual trying to do what is right for yourself. Remember that a study like that offers guidance as a risk factor but may not imply a direct cause. There are a lot of coincidences too.
Tingling and numbness in the hand can be from carpal tunnel but aching, coldness can occur form that or other issues.
As far as stopping or starting birth control, talk with your doctor. Your neurologist should be able to clarify whether you have carpal tunnel or not and ifyou are not getting success with the treatment offered maybe you want to ask your neurologist about an emg/nerve conduction study or perhaps see a hand surgeon in your area.
If your curiuos you can look at the one of the styudies I am talking about, but none of these dtudies offer a direct cause and effect ie you can't say bcp lead to cts just that its been identified as a factor in this one study in this one population (the people studied). ...Read more
