Where? How much?: Why choose synthetic when you can use your own home grown!? Synthetics are quicker, easier, more convenient, less expensive, less long lasting, less operator dependent, may be safer. Your own tissues have less "reactions", last longer, need skillful, thoughtful placement, require more care, are more realistic results wise, in the right hands are the rolls royce, of synthetics are the toyota. ...Read more

Is it safe to have hysterectomy after liposuction? I am having smart lipo 3 weeks before my hysterectomy. Is this safe? Will i be healed enough?

Will i attain better results from liposuction surgery if it is performed while i'm standing up or while I am laying down? Summer is approaching and i'm currently considering a liposuction procedure. I've always thought liposuction to be a procedure that i

You : You are certainly correct that body contouring results depend on how we interact with gravity in the standing position. Since we are human, however, it would be technically rather difficult to perform liposuction on someone who is standing up. For this reason, the markings for liposuction are done at 360 degrees in the standing position. The patient is then placed recumbent for the surgery, either face down, back down or both. It is dependent on the surgeon's talent and skill to translate the markings made upright into the appropriate fat removal and scuplting. While early taping and dressings are applied with the patient lying down, later garments and taping are perfromed while standing to help mold the body into its new shape as swelling subsides and the skin resettles. ...Read more

I was wondering is facial liposuction the same as buccal fat removal?

No: Buccal fat pad removal is a specific operation which removes a portion of the buccal fad pad through a small incision inside the mouth. Liposuction is not used for this. Facial liposuction is a generic term for liposuction of the face. Liposuction is more risky above the jawline compared to liposuction of the areas below the jawline and under the chin. Is a butt implant procedure considered a major surgery? I don't want to put myself in a position where i basically elected a major procedure. Are butt implants considered a major or risky operation? .

Minor : Minor surgery is having a mole removed or a scar revised. It takes a few minutes under local and pain medication is not pain medication other than Acetaminophen (tylenol) is necessary. However, even minor surgery can cause major problems if not performed under the correct conditions, and just because a procedure can be done under local, does not mean that it is minor. From a plastic surgeon's perspective, all surgery should be treated as major surgery. What I do for a living is elective, so the standards need to be held to the highest level. The risks, while small, are not zero. The risk of driving to the surgery center may be higher than having elective surgery, but it doesn't keep me from driving. I would consider buttocks implants a major procedure. It requires an accredited surgical facility, meticulous sterility and surgical expertise. I also consider it a risky operation, not so much from a safety standpoint, but from a patient satisfaction standpoint. The implants often sit too high, and are not aesthetic. Some people feel the same way about breast implants; however, breast implants have a 92% worth it rating while buttocks implants only get 33%. Satisfaction with fat grafting is much higher, and in selected situations may be a better choice. The most important part about any elective surgery is not the procedure, but the practitioner. No matter how good an implant or a procedure may be, it can't make up for poor judgement. Find an experienced, board certified, plastic surgeon in your area and pay for a consultation. It is money well spent. ...Read more

How long is the recovery time after a facial fat transfer? I can't take too much time off of work for surgery, but i don't want to go into work with a swollen, unnatural-looking face after having a fat transfer to treat my wrinkles. How long will it take

Probably too long: Facial fat transfer to restore volume loss with aging that will work will leave you swollen for several weeks. Patients frequently go back to work after two, but can remain swollen for several depending on the volume, and health of the patient. Fat transfer breast augmentation surgery vs. Breast implants, which to do?

Fat transfer breast augmentation surgery vs. Breast implants, which to do?

Depends: For smaller volume increases, fat transfer works as well as implants. However for larger volumes, it may take several stages and is more difficult to get the same result as an implant. It also depends on the amount of breast tissue you start with, because fat transfer needs some tissue to survive. Generally speaking, it is more economical to get implants. ...Read more

I'm 23 years old n i want a fat transfer sergery I have big breast could they use that fat for other body parts?

Breast tissue: It's not a good idea to use breast tissue to transfer to other areas of the body for several reasons. Especially in young women, the breast is actually made up of mostly glandular tissue with less fat. These cells make milk so cannot be transferred. Additionally with breast cancer risk, transfer of breast tissue would be a bad idea-if these cells later develop cancer it may be hard to diagnose/tx. ...Read more

What is a fat transfer and is it safe?

The ultimate filler: Fat transfer, aka fat injection, lipoinjection, etc., is a tried and proven procedure (I've been using it for 25 years) where your own fat is taken from one place (e.g. your tummy) and grafted by injection to an area that needs filling, usually the face. Fat is the gold standard of fillers: safe, inexpensive, never rejected and much longer lasting than commercial fillers once it "takes". ...Read more
