What should I do when someone is having S A D seasonal affective disorder....???? Can foods help? Need medication or sunlight????
Sunlight or lights: that mimic sunlight (full spectrum lights) can help with SAD. It is something like other types of depression, since getting up and out (especially on sunnier days, even when they are cold) can help. I don't know of any foods that help. Alcohol can however hinder anyone who is depressed, since it is a depressant. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

I 'm married with 4 children and work full-time. I take meds for depression, add, and bipolar disorder. Not sure why still irritated around my kids.
Well -first off -: Medications help a great deal but do not always take care of all symptoms. Second- it sounds like your life is very full (wife, mother ; full time employment outside of the home). Third- as much as we love our children - they can be irritating at times. Have you thought about some form of talking therapy in addition to your medications? It looks like your are on adhd med ; 2 antidepressants but no. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers

See a counselor: If you are already seeing a psychiatrist for bipolar, that is a step in the right direction. Does OCD get better or worse with age? Drugs don't seem to work and I am tired of worrying about everything.
Skills vs pills: Age alone does not seem to make ocd better or worse. You say meds haven't helped. Have you tried therapy? Particularly cognitive and behavioral therapies are helpful. The key is to keep trying new techniques and ways of managing the symptoms, finding enough of the ones that work for you. There isn't a 1 size fits all, unfortunately. Many find erp (exposure/response prevention)treatment effective. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have post traumatic stress disorder, if i try acid will it set me into a flashback? I also have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder as well.
Reasons why I should not try acid?
Why ask for trouble?: I am puzzled by your question --- why would you want to use a drug that might bring on flashbacks or other symptoms. Some people have good acid experiences but you would just be asking for trouble by taking a drug that commonly produces flashbacks and other symptoms. ...Read moreSee 4 more doctor answers

Anxiety/panic: Stress releases Adrenalin to "fight or flee"; if we can't do either, excess Adrenalin can create anxiety & panic. Sometimes exercise can "burn off" the excess Adrenalin & prevent/ lessen anxiety. Stress management is important: exercise, meditation, music, tai chi, yoga, hobby to divert attention away from worries & stress. Therapy & meds can further help. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Courageous!: I know you've been struggling for some time and really admire your ability to see that it may help to see a therapist. Try not to self diagnose. That's what they learn in years of school. Just describe what happens to you. Hopefully you'll learn how to manage the fears and feelings and ways to protect yourself as you grow. Medication may help too, but therapy the most! I wish you well! ...Read more
