Is age 3 a good age to teach a child to learn to read?

I tried to teach this child to learn the names of the letters. But she seem not to remember or learn although she knows names of colors and house hold objects.

Be patient: The visual-spatial recognition needed to decode symbolic figures (letters) is not expected in kids before age 4.At that point they are expected to recognize some letters & numbers. By 5 they should recognize & recite them all. If the kid seem to, be encouraging & provide access to the materials but please do not pust the child as if they must to please you. ...Read more

When people rape you with objects does that still count as rape? I read that it did count but some say it doesn't count.

See Answer: Rape is the act of sexual intercourse that is forced upon a person against their will. Lawyers may use "semantics" and define rape of a "penis insertion" into your vagina. Either way you look at it though, if you are having objects forced into your vagina against your will it is sexual abuse, and you should contact the proper authorities, good luck. ...Read more

Ive read solvents like glue are harmless recreation objects. As a Doc, would u recommend solvents for recreation for teens?

Odd question: Glue sniffing is a sad form of recreation for some kids.Unfortunately, the "solvents" often contain nerve and liver toxins that may give them a "high" but can also lead to brain and liver damage when used inappropriately. Many products are safe and beneficial when used appropriately, but these can kill. ...Read more

I was tired reading my phone. Suddenly, I noticed the text had a small "shadow" of the text underneath it down and to the right. No double vision looking at objects in room. Just text on contrasted backgrounds. Went away in ~5 min. No other symptoms.

Not to worry: You are probably spending too much time reading your phone. Give yourself short breaks in between and look at things far away.

Is there any treatment for Oscillopsia? it appears like the environment is vibrating/shaking. Stationary objects moving. I can't read or drive.

Look for a cause.: Ocillopsia is a condition where the ability of a person to maintain focus on an object is impaired, giving you abnormal eye movements, or nystagmus. You need to get a complete neuro ophthalmologic exam to classify what kind of nystagmus you have. If you are taking medications or drinking , consider stopping it to see if this is the cause. If this is ineffective, the ophthalmologist has treatments ...Read more

I'm lefthand dominant in writing, but righthanded when holding other object or activities. Im 21 y/o. Can i learn to be righthanded in writing?

Brain dominance: can be very specific to one side or shared more evenly by both. The situation is more neurological than educational. You MAY be able to learn to write right-handed but at your age it is less likely than when you were a little tyke. Research suggests it's best to follow the lead of your brain rather than changing handedness. Peace and good health from a leftie. ...Read more

Hard to say: A number of circulatory/neurologic conditions could be the issue. You need to continue having the root cause of your symptoms determined. It will probably require blood studies, circulatory studies like doppler ultrasound, maybe even a biopsy of the nerves in your skin. It may be that meds could provide some relief from your symptoms. ...Read more

Q: baby's ears sticks out a bit. What options are there to encourage her ears grow closer to head. She sleeps on her back and wakes up very read.

2 unrelated problems: The lop ears or ear cartilage that "stick out" is most likely developmental and I do not think you can do anything about it. When your baby is older, say 6 or 7, that minor deformity can be surgically corrected by a plastic surgeon. The redness that occurs is independent of the ear anatomy. Consult your pediatrician. ...Read more
