The causes are varied eg electrical problems (both sinister and not sinister), extra beats (mostly harmless), anxiety, thyroid problem. If persistent or worrying then get checked for ...Read more

I have tension in left upper torso near heart. Also heart palpitations three days straight. It intensifies when I rotate my body side to side.
Little information: Offered for complex issues. In general, while what people perceive as "palpitations" (a symptom, as perceived by the body owner) do correlate ~70% of the time with simultaneous changes in hearth rhythm, consistently ~30% do not. Given very limited details offered, likely most to all symptoms are skeletal (not heart) muscle, both controlled, split-second by split-second, 24/7, from mind/brain. ...Read more

Recent CT scan indicated mild thickening of left adrenal gland unchanged. I get heart palpitations when I lie on my left side. Is this serious?
Nothing serious: CT findings and palpitations are unrelated. If you are otherwise well, with no history of cancer, the mild thickening is most often unimportant. Palpitations are due to a sudden racing of the heart, or to premature heartbeats that feel like a skipped beat or a quick flutter. These palpitations are usually not an indication of heart disease.
