Hernia Doubtful: Cts are pretty reliable for identifying abdominal wall hernias (less so, in the groin); this fact along w/the location of the lump make a hernia very unlikely. Bone spur: The usual cause of superficial lump is lypoma. Rarely could it be a small bony growth or neuroma. A lypoma is usually painless, freely mobile, and remains stable over time. Bone spur is hard, fixed and tender on palpation. Neuroma may or may not painful but usually fixed. It might be an EXOSTOSIS (small bony lump originating in one of your ribs) HOWEVER the only way to be totally re-assured is to visit your PCP (Primary Care Provider) for a "look see" and opinion!
