Will dentists ever put patients under anesthesia for removing cavities?

Will dentists ever put patients under anesthesia for removing cavities?

Anesthesia: If you mean general anesthesia, yes there are some disabilities that preclude using novacaine alone to control movement and cooperation. Most others that require a higher level of sedation during procedures still have protective reflexes present, but are close to being asleep. Therefore there is no fighter to get things done and no memory of the procedure. ...Read more

Anyone out there ever had the yag laser used on their eyes after a crystalens implant surgery?

Anyone out there ever had the yag laser used on their eyes after a crystalens implant surgery?

Many people: Yag laser is used to clear hazy vision after cataract surgery. It has also been used in patients with crystalens whose lenses have not been able to provide near vision or have "locked" in a position other than intended. This method has had variable success. Talk to your doctor before having teh procedure. If the lens does not work, it can be replaced only if no yag has been performed. ...Read more

On lovenox, (enoxaparin) surg. Tomorrow. Warfin lifer. Removing mesh from hernia placed 5mo ago. How long approx. Is this procedure?

Can't tell here: Would need much more detailed information. Where is the mesh? How large is the mesh? Where was the mesh placed and in what layer? Why is the mesh being removed? Infection history? What are the other medical conditions? Only your surgeon can tell you what surgery will be needed and how long surgery may take. ...Read more

Any advice? What suturing technique is used in placing a jackson-pratt drain?

Any advice? What suturing technique is used in placing a jackson-pratt drain?

Pretty simple: I just use a 2-0 or 3-0 stitch, which i tie down to the patient , then i wrap the suture around the catheter and tie it down . I just want a little crimp in the drain catheter, so it won't slip out but will allow drainage. I prefer braided (silk) suture for this, though some prefer nylon. I hope this answers your question. Interesting. Good luck. ...Read more

Are vacuum assisted breast core biopsy guns always attached to a machine? the one I had was just a gun, not cord attached. Not vacuum assisted then?

Yes: Yes, typically the vacuum assisted biopsy guns are attached to the computer/machine because a program runs it and the vacuum runs through it.Sometimes a handheld stereotactic gun is used instead due to the nature of the lesion being biopsied-much better for dense tissue or firm lesions. The clumsiness of all the tubing with the vacuum ones can be a problem too although better for calcifications. ...Read more
