Stool culture: Frequently after surgery patients have an overgrowth of bad colon organisms such as c. difficile. This can produce the diarrhea you mentioned. If it persists, stool culture should be done and if such organisms found , proper antiboitics will clear up problem. ...Read more

Diarrhea after appy: Diarrhea 2 months after an appendectomy is unlikely to be surgery related. Diarrhea can result after a large amount of colon is removed but generally not after an appendectomy, which removes a small tube-like structure from the cecum. Ask your doctor: If you are scheduled for surgery the doctor seeing you should be aware of and discussing the issues you bring up. They may wish to delay the surgery until the signs and symptoms suggesting infection have abated, or perhaps that is the reason you need surgery. Very common: The gall bladder (GB) produces bile which breaks down fat and complex sugars. When the GB is gone, fatty food are not broken down well and this could lead to fast emptying that leads to diarrhea because it doesn't go through the normal digestive process. Possible: c diff: Diarrhea and nausea are quite common after abdominal surgery but may be do in part to the antibiotics or pain medications. If prolonged this could be a sign of clostridium difficile diarrhea and should be discussed with your surgeon. ...Read more

Unlikely: That jaw surgery has caused this problem. Changes in diet can cause changes in digestive patterns. You should discuss with your doctor as there can be so many causes. Great!: The only thing I would add is to drink plenty of water daily to keep you well hydrated and avoid constipation or stool impaction. Should you begin to have symptoms I would go back to the surgeon to check if the stricture has become bigger. Best of luck! ...Read more

? C dif enterocoliti: Often prolonged peri-operative antibiotics adversely affect the bacterial content of the colon resulting in an overgrowth of a bug called clostridium difficile. This causes inflammation of the colon lining with resultant severe diarrhea. Stool culture/sample is needed to make/confirm the diagnosis. Yes stress but: might be side effects of any meds given for anesthesia or antibiotics , it should pass in a few days if not in one day , peptobismal is good [turns stools black ] and old rice/potatoe/peanut butter constipators for a little while might help ...Read more
