Depends!: You can get tested for h pylori in one of three ways: via blood, breath or stool. Blood testing doesn't require fasting but breath test requires fasting as well as other restrictions in 14d prior to exam while stool test requires similar requirements w/o fasting. However, the body does such a good job of maintaining pH 7.35-7.45 that we don't typically check unless you're deathly ill. pH range is incredibly small/tight b/c that's where our bodies function best.
