Glucose Says Hi
The blood sugar concentration or blood glucose level is the amount of glucose (sugar) present in the blood of a human or animal. The body naturally tightly regulates blood glucose levels as a part of metabolic homeostasis. Glucose is the primary source of energy for the body's cells, and blood lipids (in the form of fats and oils) are primarily ...Read more
My mean plasma glucose is 111; hba1c is 5.3. My doctor said i don't have diabetes, but isn't my glucose high?
No: A1c between5.7 to 6.5 indicated pre diabetes. > 6.5 indicates diabetes. Having said that diabetes is more like a gradient disease- by that what i mean is with an a1c of 5.3 your risk of diabetes is slightly higher than a person with a1c of 4.8. Life style modifications with diet and exercise will decrease this risk. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Been diagnosed with prediabetes 104mg. My serum creatinine was 1.09mg/dl.Do I have ckd?Im so worried.Serum creatinine 4yrs ago was .96. Pls help me.
CKD?: You need to have a 24 hour urine collection to see what your kidney function is as well as if you have protein (p) in your urine. You do not give your height or weight. At 22 years of age, you may have normal kidney function. See a physician and get your urine checked and you may find that you have no ckd, at present. If you have p, you will need to be on medication to reduce it. ...Read more
Maybe: You need two positive tests to give you a diagnosis. A fasting blood sugar over 126 is one positive test. You need another one to confirm, either repeat another fasting blood sugar (through blood draw), or measure a hba1c which is a blood test that does not require fasting, or do an oral glucose tolerance test which is more cumbersome and is more time consuming. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I am blood sugar .One month ago my blood sugar fbg402 and ppg 512 after glucomet gp1 tablet now fbg 106 and ppg 97 what i do?
Diabetes treatment: Hard to understand your question, but it seems your diabetes was very poorly controlled, your doctor put you on a medication (glimepirde/metformin), and now your sugars are very good. It sounds like the medication worked. Is your glucometer functioning properly? Have you improved your weight and exercise? See your doctor, but it is possible you could take metformin alone. ...Read more
My lst meal was @3am& had fbs test @3pm my result is6.7. I took metmorfin. My hba1c% is 4.85& rbs 6.2nonfasting do I have diabetis. I stop taking metf?
Depends: It depends on whether the 167 is fasting or not. If it's not, 167 is normal. If it's fasting, anything over 126 is in the diabetes range. Please keep in mind we don't use fingerstick blood sugar to diagnose diabetes or prediabetes. To do that, you will need a blood draw as it is more accurate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I had blood work done and my A1c is 5.3. My fasting glucose was 80 but my fasting glucose serum was 143. Insulin was normal. Is this diabetes?
Blood work: A1c of 5.3 is fine and a fasting glucose of 80 is also fine. I do not know what you mean by "fasting glucose serum". I presume you had a fasting blood sugar level of 143 measured in your blood in the lab. There is no good reason for that. Why was insulin measured? If you can get more info from your doctor I would appreciate seeing the data. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My fasting blood sugar is 94, my fasting insulin is 9.25, my homa-ir is 1.2, I am scared, am i prediabetes?
Don't be scared: Your glucose is normal, the Insulin and homa measurements are meaningless. Don't be scared. There is a natural progression from normal to prediabetes to diabetes as you age and get more overweight, particularly if you have a positive family history. Start weight loss diet and exercise now to retard or prevent that progression. Being scared doesn't help prevent disease. ...Read more
Diabetes: A hgbA1c of 6 is at the upper limits of normal and correlates with an fbs of 126. This may signify a borderline or prediabetic status. You could do a glucose tolerance test to see how your system handles a sugar load. Nevertheless I would consider yourself to be prediabetic and strive for ideal body weight, avoid concentrated sweets and decrease intake of starches and repeat your HgbA1c in 3 month ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Doctor , I am 43 yrs old n my fasting plasma glucose is 102mg/dl and my post lunch plasma glucose is 149mg/dl, is it normal?
FASTING: Your fasting bs is normal, although some physicians believe that it should be under 95. A 2 hours post pandrial bs ideally should be under 120. A level of 149 is slightly elevated but not to be concerned. ...Read more

Within normal limits: A glucose screening test is a routine test during pregnancy that checks a pregnant woman's blood glucose level. Prediabetes!: If you are overweight, then you are looking at type two diabetes and 113 is in the prediabetic range. get aggressive with your exercise, any time you see a number over 99 go on a brisk 30 to hour minute walk and recheck your blood sugar afterwards. My GP said I have Syndrome X (dysmetabolic syndrome) I am pre-diabetic with high insulin levels.I have gained about 40kg in 2 yrs.Endocrinologist yes?
I recently was told that i had high insulin resistance and low fasting glucose levels. What does this mean?
Pre diabetes: Insulin resistance is the precursor to type 2 diabetes. It is estimated that people who eventually develop diabetes have had Insulin resistance for at least 10-15 yrs beforehand. Obesity, high blood pressure, high triglycerides, low HDL cholesterol, and high fasting glucose are indicators of Insulin resistance (if you have at least 3 out of 5). Weight loss and exercise are essential for treating. ...Read more
