What is the meaning of follicle size?

TTC: When you are trying to conceive, either through an ovulation induction cycle or through ivf, the infertility specialist will discuss with you your egg follicle sizes. It is known that the follicle has to reach an average diameter of a minimum of 15 mms for the egg within to be mature. We cannot see the egg because it is microscopic size. Therefore, maturation is assumed by the size of the follicle.

What is the standard no of follicle women can produce each month?

What is the standard no of follicle women can produce each month?

One mature follicle: If a woman is not taking any fertility meds, she will release only one mature follicle per month. This is the case 99% of the time. The 1% exception is when a woman has spontaneous twins. Fraternal twins indicate that she released two mature follicles that month. With fertility meds however, the number released per month can go up. This is why fertility meds are associated with twins/triplets

Had a follicle measure 13.4mm on cycle day 9. Go in cycle day 11 and it disappeared. What happened?

Had a follicle measure 13.4mm on cycle day 9. Go in cycle day 11 and it disappeared. What happened?

Normal ovarian cyst: An ovarian follicle matures monthly during the menstrual cycle. As it does so, an egg is ripened and released into the tube. The "cyst" remains behind, producing hormones which may increase in amount, if the cyst receives the proper hormonal stimulation from a fertilized egg. You are describing a healthy process. This is an indicator that you are fertile and likely capable of future pregnancy.
