Metformin: Metformin will help reduce Insulin resistance, which is the cause of pcos. Can induce normal menses and fertility. Flutamide or spironolactone can reduce testosterone if elevated. Contraceptive only regularize periods and make you infertile. Check w/your doctor. ...Read more

Sits on T receptor: Flutamide sits on testosterone receptor but w/o stimulating any testosterone-like function. Because testosterone can't get to receptor, there's no testosterone function. In reality Flutamide doesn't so much reduce testosterone level as much as it reduces testosterone function. Flutamide has since been replaced by Bicalutamide & Nilutamide w/better side effect profiles. ...Read more

It has been shown to cause elevation of blood levels of testosterone and estradiol, and hormonal effects such as enlarged breasts can be a side effect, so it clearly has hormonal affects, and I assume, could cause missed periods. Possible: Flutamide blocks androgen (male hormone) receptors and thus changes the balance of hormones. This could effect your periods but, if you are having unprotected intercourse and your period is late, it would be advisable to check a pregnancy test and discuss contraception with your doctor.
