Doctor insights on:
Infections.: Usually urine is sterile, so it is not often a problem. The stool, however, is loaded with many types of organisms. There are many illnesses, too many to list here, including bacterial, viral, and parasitic infections, which are spread by fecal contamination. All the more important reason to wash hands thoroughly after using the bathroom! Good luck.
Microorganisms: Are the cause of sickness. And the aerobic environment promotes bacterial reproduction. Excess microorganisms cause sickness.
Is it normal to develop green feces while taking Linzess? I was going once every one or two weeks; now every day and it is green but I'm not sick.
Likely not to worry: Likely means nothing other than change in the transit time of your stool through the colon, or related to something green that you adjusted. If continues however, go for full examination.
I am doing a school project on MRSA I was wondering if a person caught it of the feces of animals on food how would they feel would they feel sick?
See answer: Most human MRSA infections occur by transmission from other infected humans. Although MRSA is found in cattle, pigs and chicken it is a different strain from the one that usually causes human disease. However people who work closely with livestock have become infected with skin lesions. Consumers have not contracted MRSA from eating infected animals. MRSA causes boils to occur on the skin.
Embarrassing, but what could cause blue green feces? I do not feel sick at all. Could a sudden intake of more iron and zinc cause this?
Blue/green stool: Blue food coloring is a popular food additive, and when ingested in large quantities can make stools appear blue. Blue is not a pigment typically produced by the human GI tract. Blue is however the color of ingestable "indicator" dyes & that a hemoccult card will turn if blood is detected in stool (or it taking a lot of iron, as in your case)--is this to what you are referring?
After relief from constipation, my stomach swells and I get horrible feces smelling burps. I get really sick with stomach pains and nausea.
The doctor can help: One who has pain in various places in the abdomen, and is constipated, should work with her primary care doctor to get thoroughly "unconstipated". If her symptoms go away, and if the doctor does not suspect any bad disease going on, then the problem probably was constipation. The smell of feces in burps can mean that there is poop backed up all the way to the stomach. Doctor can examine again.
65y/o male, w/colostomy bag, surgery 13wk ago¬hing but sick, vomiting some blood, dehydrated, feces in stomach, bags don't work. Lost faith in doc. Advise?
Bowel obstruction: You may have a bowel obstruction or abscess from resolving infection. You need IV fluid, possible ct scan or xray, bloodwork and possible antibiotics. Many early bowel obstructions within weeks of surgery resolve with conservative medical care. Call your surgeon or go to the hospital if you are feeling really sick.See 1 more doctor answer
Let me explain: Stool color is generally influenced by what you eat as well as by the amount of bile — a yellow-green fluid that digests fats — in your stool. As bile pigments travel through your gastrointestinal tract, they are chemically altered by enzymes — changing the pigments from green to brown.
I have had green stool for almost 3 months but I don't feel sick at all what should I be on the look out for or should I just let it go?
Ignore it: This is not well understood but never seems to cause problems.
Been sick with cold took meds feel better but now stool has been runny and green for a few days is this normal and should I c doc if so when should I?
Vague: Could be the meds or some residual symptoms from your sickness. I would consider seeing a Dr. Just to rule out other issues.
Detox?: Not sure what the question means. However, if detoxifying the body (to include stool) this can lead to detoxificant side effects.
Add fiber.: The first thing would be to increase the insoluble fiber in your diet, like bran or psyllium. Review your eating habits: the foods most commonly associated with loose stools are milk/ ice cream, fruits, salads/leafy greens when eaten to excess. Also moderate intake of caffeine and artificial sweeteners. Still having loose stools? See your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
See your doctor: If these symptoms have been going on for this long, you have to be seen by your doctor, who will examine and test you to see what's wrong.
Hospitalized 3 times in last 2 months with the symptoms from my last 2 posts here. Extensive blood, urine, & stool workup done. All tests neg. Still very sick. Will post all symptoms in next post.
Lots to consider...: Given the extensive nature of evaluation but persistent symptoms, several scenarios are possible: 1) you need further evaluation to identify missed pathology; 2) its time to take a break from testing & treat your symptoms (sounds like bad things have been ruled out already); 3) your symptoms may in part be "functional". In the latter case, please address stress, anxiety, depression. Best of luck.See 1 more doctor answer
What is treatment of GI miasis that I see larva in stool. This ia a 6 year girle child that sick for 4 years.
Removal: Check this out with your local surgeon as it seems removal is the only answer. Further questions can be obtained at the CDC, or center for disease control. All the best. This is a difficult disease.
For the last 4 days I've had one loose stool a day and the rest will return to normal for that day. I haven't felt sick but what could this be?
Nothing: If it continues for more than a month or gets worse, see a doctor. Age? History? Medications? Food intolerances? It's impossible to guess with one line of history :)
Do CF kidshave periods of health? I.E. Does their stool ever present as healthy? Do they have periods of easier breathing? Or are they always sick?
Depends: If they are well managed by their pcp and their CF team with meds and therapy, they grow up with a relatively normal childhood. Regular and thorough review is necessary to do so, but a pretty healthy life is possible for the first 2 decades at least (thats the ones I know the best).
