Ears Clogged Afrin Nasal
My nose has been clogged up for 2 days now and i finally used an oxymetazoline nasal spray but it was expired should i be worried?
Toss it blow ur nose: Not because it's too old but because these type of inhalers will cause a rebound congestion much worse than the original problem and are thus highly addictive. They are actually recommended to be used for just two to three days which is unfortunately just long enough for this profound rebound congestion to develop as the drug wears off. Learn to blow your nose, it's far more effective. ...Read more

I am having pressure when I bend forward in the back of my head and near my ears. Slight runny nose, no congestion, will afrin nasal spray help this?
Probably not: Afrin (oxymetazoline) can't be used for more than 3 days or you'll get rebound congestion in people using it chronically for that. Also, it can't be used at the same time if you are on high blood pressure meds, glaucoma drops or meds, or any meds that can increase pressures. Read the package insert carefully first. It's basically a sinus decongestant, and you said you don't have any congestion. So go another way. ...Read more
Can Afrin and Flonase thickin the fluid in Eustachian Tube? I used both yesterday 2 sprays in each nostril. My left ear feels clogged today.
Not likely: Flonase does not reach optimum potency until used consistently for days. It is more likely that whatever causes one to use nose sprays in the first place results in inefficient Eustachian Tube drainage due to inflammation. Stay the course as advised by your physician. Make sure to review the warnings on these if using otc. ...Read more

Would one get benefit from putting a few drops of Afrin (oxymetazoline) nose spray in each ear? I know you will say don't do this and but could it decongest the ear?
No.: It does not work that way. If your ears are plugged, it can be due to too much ear wax, too. See Doc for cleaning. No Q-tips! Ear plugs can make this worse, too. If you have a runny nose and sneezing, due to allergies, an antihistamine may help. For colds, otc meds have no proven benefit in decent studies and their own side effects. ...Read more

On day5 of a nasty cold. Cannot breathe out of my nose at all, smell or taste! Lots of pressure in head & ears. Sudafed & Afrin not helping. Any sugg?
I used Afrin (oxymetazoline) before bed, now my nose hurts and im leaking clear liquid from my nose, is this normal? The pain woke me up. Hurts when I turn my head.
Afrin (oxymetazoline) is supposed to: Help with decongesting your nostrils so you can breathe while you sleep. So yes the clear liquid coming out must be what the Afrin (oxymetazoline) decongested -- however, if that clear liquid thickens up, or becomes cloudy, and you have more headache/pain noted without using more Afrin (oxymetazoline), you may need to get to a healthcare provider so they can treat you for potential sinus infection. ...Read more

It can help: Sudogest is a drug that constricts the blood vessels, affecting the entire body to some extent, but in the nose, sinuses, and ears it reduces congestion. Yes.: The saline sinus sprays are completely fine. Things like afrin (oxymetazoline) work on the blood vessels to decrease their size. This type of medicine also can work on the blood vessels of the breast to decrease milk production. It is more of a problem when you take a decongestant by mouth but still a small risk. Pulsing head + dizzy/lightheaded when lie down. Ears clogged, pressure in eyes/face, nasal voice often. Allergies. Cervical issues. What specialist?
Doctor for allergies: Allergists treat the allergies and the ear- blocking and headaches that come with them. They don't do neck adjustments in the USA. For the neck, you may need a different doctor entirely, depends on what symptoms you have. ...Read more
