Avoid tylenol (acetaminophen) with alcohol as both can injure the liver.

You can try over the counter pain med like naproxen Sodium, Ibuprofen if you have no allergy to Aspirin and no history of Peptic Ulcer in Stomach. Or Tylenol
If not better see your doctor and get rx for a muscle relaxant as well. If it continues than you need imaging like Xrays, MRI

Interesting, No: "Is that normal": No. But, what is the mechanism? Not clear. Both sides, back of neck? Any other muscle involvement? If both sides and no other symptoms then maybe stress issues associated with drinking. Do you get migraine or tension headaches? If one side then maybe something to do with how you sleep. Where is it sore?: And how much alcohol? Which spicy food? How long ago between when you ate, drank and onset of symptoms? Were you having any vomiting or diarrhea earlier?
